بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
Concerning what are they disputing Whereof do they question one another What are they asking about
-
عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
Concerning the Great News (It is) of the awful tidings About the great news
-
ٱلَّذِي هُمۡ فِيهِ مُخۡتَلِفُونَ
About which they cannot agree Concerning which they are in disagreement About which they are in disagreement
-
كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُونَ
Verily, they shall soon (come to) know Nay, but they will come to know Nay, they will come to know
-
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُونَ
Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know Nay, again, but they will come to know Nay, again, they will come to know
-
أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مِهَٰدࣰ ا
Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse Have We not made the earth an expanse Have We not made the earth as a bed
-
وَٱلۡجِبَالَ أَوۡتَادࣰ ا
And the mountains as pegs And the high hills bulwarks And the mountains as pegs
-
وَخَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجࣰ ا
And (have We not) created you in pairs And We have created you in pairs And We have created you in pairs
-
وَجَعَلۡنَا نَوۡمَكُمۡ سُبَاتࣰ ا
And made your sleep for rest And have appointed your sleep for repose And We have made your sleep as a thing for rest
-
وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلَّيۡلَ لِبَاسࣰ ا
And made the night as a covering And have appointed the night as a cloak And We have made the night as a covering
-
وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشࣰ ا
And made the day as a means of subsistence And have appointed the day for livelihood And We have made the day for livelihood
-
وَبَنَيۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعࣰ ا شِدَادࣰ ا
And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments And We have built above you seven strong (heavens) And We have built above you seven strong
-
وَجَعَلۡنَا سِرَاجࣰ ا وَهَّاجࣰ ا
And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour And have appointed a dazzling lamp And We have made (therein) a shining lamp
-
وَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلۡمُعۡصِرَٰتِ مَآءࣰ ثَجَّاجࣰ ا
And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water And We have sent down from the Mu`sirat water Thajjaj
-
لِّنُخۡرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبࣰّ ا وَنَبَاتࣰ ا
That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables Thereby to produce grain and plant That We may produce therewith grains and vegetations
-
وَجَنَّٰتٍ أَلۡفَافًا
And gardens of luxurious growth And gardens of thick foliage And gardens that are Alfaf
-
إِنَّ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ كَانَ مِيقَٰتࣰ ا
Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time
-
يَوۡمَ يُنفَخُ فِي ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأۡتُونَ أَفۡوَاجࣰ ا
The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds
-
وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ أَبۡوَٰبࣰ ا
And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates
-
وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ فَكَانَتۡ سَرَابًا
And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage
-
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتۡ مِرۡصَادࣰ ا
Truly Hell is as a place of ambush Lo! hell lurketh in ambush Truly, Hell is a place of ambush
-
لِّلطَّٰغِينَ مَـَٔابࣰ ا
For the transgressors a place of destination A home for the rebellious A dwelling place for the Taghun
-
لَّٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحۡقَابࣰ ا
They will dwell therein for ages They will abide therein for ages They will abide therein Ahqab
-
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرۡدࣰ ا وَلَا شَرَابًا
Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink
-
إِلَّا حَمِيمࣰ ا وَغَسَّاقࣰ ا
Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold Save boiling water and a paralysing cold Except Hamim, and Ghassaq
-
جَزَآءࣰ وِفَاقًا
A fitting recompense (for them) Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds) An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes)
-
إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ لَا يَرۡجُونَ حِسَابࣰ ا
For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds) For lo! they looked not for a reckoning For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning
-
وَكَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كِذَّابࣰ ا
But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false They called Our revelations false with strong denial But they denied Our Ayat Kidhdhaba
-
وَكُلَّ شَيۡءٍ أَحۡصَيۡنَٰهُ كِتَٰبࣰ ا
And all things have We preserved on record Everything have We recorded in a Book And all things We have recorded in a Book
-
فَذُوقُواْ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمۡ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment So taste you. No increase shall We give you, except in torment
-
إِنَّ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
Verily for the Righteous there will be a fulfilment of (the heart's) desires Lo! for the duteous is achievement Verily, for those who have Taqwa, there will be a success
-
حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعۡنَٰبࣰ ا
Gardens enclosed, and grapevines Gardens enclosed and vineyards Hada'iq and vineyards
-
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتۡرَابࣰ ا
And voluptuous women of equal age And voluptuous women of equal age And Kawa`ib Atrab
-
وَكَأۡسࣰ ا دِهَاقࣰ ا
And a cup full (to the brim) And a full cup And a cup Dihaq
-
لَّا يَسۡمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغۡوࣰ ا وَلَا كِذَّٰبࣰ ا
No vanity shall they hear therein, nor Untruth There hear they never vain discourse, nor lying No Laghw shall they hear therein, nor lying
-
جَزَآءࣰ مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابࣰ ا
Recompense from thy Lord, a gift, (amply) sufficient Requital from thy Lord - a gift in payment Rewarded from your Lord with a sufficient gift
-
رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِۖ لَا يَمۡلِكُونَ مِنۡهُ خِطَابࣰ ا
(From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all between, (Allah) Most Gracious: None shall have power to argue with Him Lord of the heavens and the earth, and (all) that is between them, the Beneficent; with Whom none can converse The Lord of the heavens and the earth, and whatsoever is in between them, the Most Gracious, with Whom th- ey cannot dare to speak
-
يَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ صَفࣰّ اۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنۡ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابࣰ ا
The Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand forth in ranks, none shall speak except any who is permitted by (Allah) Most Gracious, and He will say what is right On the day when the angels and the Spirit stand arrayed, they speak not, saving him whom the Beneficent alloweth and who speaketh right The Day that Ar-Ruh and the angels will stand forth in rows, they will not speak except him whom Ar-Rahman allows, and he will speak what is right
-
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا
That Day will be the sure Reality: Therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) return to his Lord That is the True Day. So whoso will should seek recourse unto his Lord That is the True Day. So, whosoever wills, let him seek a place with His Lord
-
إِنَّآ أَنذَرۡنَٰكُمۡ عَذَابࣰ ا قَرِيبࣰ ا يَوۡمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلۡمَرۡءُ مَا قَدَّمَتۡ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلۡكَافِرُ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَٰبَۢا
Verily, We have warned you of a Penalty near, the Day when man will see (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the Unbeliever will say, "Woe unto me! Would that I were (metre) dust Lo! We warn you of a doom at hand, a day whereon a man will look on that which his own hands have sent before, and the disbeliever will cry: "Would that I were dust Verily, We have warned you of a near torment -- the Day when man will see that which his hands have sent forth, and the disbeliever will say: "Woe to me! Would that I were dust
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
وَٱلنَّٰزِعَٰتِ غَرۡقࣰ ا
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence By those who drag forth to destruction By those who pull out, drowning
-
وَٱلنَّٰشِطَٰتِ نَشۡطࣰ ا
By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed) By the meteors rushing By those who free briskly
-
وَٱلسَّٰبِحَٰتِ سَبۡحࣰ ا
And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy) By the lone stars floating And by the swimmers, swimming
-
فَٱلسَّٰبِقَٰتِ سَبۡقࣰ ا
Then press forward as in a race By the angels hastening And by the racers, racing
-
فَٱلۡمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمۡرࣰ ا
Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord) And those who govern the event And by those who arrange affairs
-
يَوۡمَ تَرۡجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ
One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion On the day when the first trump resoundeth On the Day the Rajifah shakes
-
تَتۡبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ
Followed by oft-repeated (commotions) And the second followeth it Followed by the Radifah
-
قُلُوبࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ وَاجِفَةٌ
Hearts that Day will be in agitation On that day hearts beat painfully Hearts that Day will tremble
-
أَبۡصَٰرُهَا خَٰشِعَةࣱ
Cast down will be (their owners') eyes While eyes are downcast Their vision humiliated
-
يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرۡدُودُونَ فِي ٱلۡحَافِرَةِ
They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state They say: "Shall we indeed be brought back from Al-Hafirah
-
أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰمࣰ ا نَّخِرَةࣰ
What! - when we shall have become rotten bones Even after we are crumbled bones Even after we are bones Nakhirah
-
قَالُواْ تِلۡكَ إِذࣰ ا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةࣱ
They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss
-
فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجۡرَةࣱ وَٰحِدَةࣱ
But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry Surely it will need but one shout But it will be only a single Zajrah
-
فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ
When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment) And lo! they will be awakened When behold, they are at As-Sahirah
-
هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ
Has the story of Moses reached thee Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses Has there come to you the story of Musa
-
إِذۡ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلۡوَادِ ٱلۡمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa
-
ٱذۡهَبۡ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ
Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled Go to Fir`awn; verily, he has transgressed all bounds
-
فَقُلۡ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ
And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin) And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace) And say to him: "Would you purify yourself
-
وَأَهۡدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخۡشَىٰ
And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him) And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him
-
فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلۡأٓيَةَ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ
Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign And he showed him the tremendous token Then he showed him the great sign
-
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ
But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance) But he denied and disobeyed But he denied and disobeyed
-
ثُمَّ أَدۡبَرَ يَسۡعَىٰ
Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah) Then turned he away in haste Then he turned back, striving
-
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ
Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation Then gathered he and summoned So he gathered and called out
-
فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ
Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest Saying: "I am your lord, most high
-
فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰٓ
But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former So Allah seized him with punishing example for the Hereafter and the first (life)
-
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبۡرَةࣰ لِّمَن يَخۡشَىٰٓ
Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah) Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth In this is a lesson for whoever fears
-
ءَأَنتُمۡ أَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُۚ بَنَىٰهَا
What! Are ye the more difficult to create or the heaven (above)? (Allah) hath constructed it Are ye the harder to create, or is the heaven that He built Are you more difficult to create or is the heaven that He constructed
-
رَفَعَ سَمۡكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا
On high hath He raised its canopy, and He hath given it order and perfection He raised the height thereof and ordered it He raised its hei- ght, and has perfected it
-
وَأَغۡطَشَ لَيۡلَهَا وَأَخۡرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا
Its night doth He endow with darkness, and its splendour doth He bring out (with light) And He made dark the night thereof, and He brought forth the morn thereof Its night He covers and He brings out its forenoon
-
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ
And the earth, moreover, hath He extended (to a wide expanse) And after that He spread the earth And after that He spread the earth
-
أَخۡرَجَ مِنۡهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرۡعَىٰهَا
He draweth out therefrom its moisture and its pasture And produced therefrom the water thereof and the pasture thereof And brought forth therefrom its water and its pasture
-
وَٱلۡجِبَالَ أَرۡسَىٰهَا
And the mountains hath He firmly fixed And He made fast the hills And the mountains He has fixed firmly
-
مَتَٰعࣰ ا لَّكُمۡ وَلِأَنۡعَٰمِكُمۡ
For use and convenience to you and your cattle A provision for you and for your cattle As provision and benefit for you and your cattle
-
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ
Therefore, when there comes the great, overwhelming (Event) But when the great disaster cometh But when there comes the Greatest Catastrophe
-
يَوۡمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ
The Day when man shall remember (all) that he strove for The day when man will call to mind his (whole) endeavour The Day when man shall remember what he strove for
-
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلۡجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ
And Hell-Fire shall be placed in full view for (all) to see And hell will stand forth visible to him who seeth And Hell shall be made apparent for whoever sees
-
فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ
Then, for such as had transgressed all bounds Then, as for him who rebelled Then for him who transgressed
-
وَءَاثَرَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا
And had preferred the life of this world And chose the life of the world And preferred the life of this world
-
فَإِنَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ هِيَ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ
The Abode will be Hell-Fire Lo! hell will be his home Verily, his abode will be the Hell
-
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفۡسَ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰ
And for such as had entertained the fear of standing before their Lord's (tribunal) and had restrained (their) soul from lower desires But as for him who feared to stand before his Lord and restrained his soul from lust But as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and forbade himself from desire
-
فَإِنَّ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ هِيَ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ
Their abode will be the Garden Lo! the Garden will be his home Verily, Paradise will be his abode
-
يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرۡسَىٰهَا
They ask thee about the Hour,-'When will be its appointed time They ask thee of the Hour: when will it come to port They ask you about the Hour when will be its appointed time
-
فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكۡرَىٰهَآ
Wherein art thou (concerned) with the declaration thereof Why (ask they)? What hast thou to tell thereof What do you have to mention of it
-
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ
With thy Lord in the Limit fixed therefor Unto thy Lord belongeth (knowledge of) the term thereof To your Lord it is limited
-
إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخۡشَىٰهَا
Thou art but a Warner for such as fear it Thou art but a warner unto him who feareth it You are only a warner for those who fear it
-
كَأَنَّهُمۡ يَوۡمَ يَرَوۡنَهَا لَمۡ يَلۡبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوۡ ضُحَىٰهَا
The Day they see it, (It will be) as if they had tarried but a single evening, or (at most till) the following morn On the day when they behold it, it will be as if they had but tarried for an evening or the morn thereof The Day they see it (it will be) as if they had not tarried (in this world) except an (`Ashiyyah) afternoon or its (Duha) morning
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
(The Prophet) frowned and turned away He frowned and turned away He frowned and turned away
-
أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلۡأَعۡمَىٰ
Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting) Because the blind man came unto him Because there came to him the blind man
-
وَمَا يُدۡرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ
But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding) What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) And how can you know that he might become pure
-
أَوۡ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰٓ
Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him Or he might receive admonition, and the admonition might profit him
-
أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰ
As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient As for him who thinketh himself independent As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient
-
فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ
To him dost thou attend Unto him thou payest regard To him you attend
-
وَمَا عَلَيۡكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ
Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding) Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace) What does it matter to you if he will not become pure
-
وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسۡعَىٰ
But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose But as for him who came to you running
-
وَهُوَ يَخۡشَىٰ
And with fear (in his heart) And hath fear And is afraid
-
فَأَنتَ عَنۡهُ تَلَهَّىٰ
Of him wast thou unmindful From him thou art distracted Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another
-
كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذۡكِرَةࣱ
By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment Nay; indeed it is an admonition
-
فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ
Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance So let whosoever will pay heed to it So, whoever wills, let him pay attention to Him (it)
-
فِي صُحُفࣲ مُّكَرَّمَةࣲ
(It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour On honoured leaves In Records held in honor
-
مَّرۡفُوعَةࣲ مُّطَهَّرَةِۭ
Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy Exalted, purified Exalted, purified
-
بِأَيۡدِي سَفَرَةࣲ
(Written) by the hands of scribes (Set down) by scribes In the hands of ambassadors (Safarah)
-
كِرَامِۭ بَرَرَةࣲ
Honourable and Pious and Just Noble and righteous Honorable and obedient
-
قُتِلَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَآ أَكۡفَرَهُۥ
Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful Qutila mankind! How ungrateful he is
-
مِنۡ أَيِّ شَيۡءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ
From what stuff hath He created him From what thing doth He create him From what thing did He create him
-
مِن نُّطۡفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ
From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him From a Nutfah He created him and then set him in due proportion
-
ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ
Then doth He make His path smooth for him Then maketh the way easy for him Then He made the path easy for him
-
ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقۡبَرَهُۥ
Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave Then causeth him to die, and burieth him Then He causes him to die and puts him in his grave
-
ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ
Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again) Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life Then when it is His will, He will resurrect him
-
كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقۡضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ
By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him Nay, but has not done what He commanded him
-
فَلۡيَنظُرِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ
Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it) Let man consider his food Then let man look at his food
-
أَنَّا صَبَبۡنَا ٱلۡمَآءَ صَبࣰّ ا
For that We pour forth water in abundance How We pour water in showers We pour forth water in abundance
-
ثُمَّ شَقَقۡنَا ٱلۡأَرۡضَ شَقࣰّ ا
And We split the earth in fragments Then split the earth in clefts And We split the earth in clefts
-
فَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا حَبࣰّ ا
And produce therein corn And cause the grain to grow therein And We cause therein Habb to grow
-
وَعِنَبࣰ ا وَقَضۡبࣰ ا
And Grapes and nutritious plants And grapes and green fodder And grapes and Qadb
-
وَزَيۡتُونࣰ ا وَنَخۡلࣰ ا
And Olives and Dates And olive-trees and palm-trees And olives and date palms
-
وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلۡبࣰ ا
And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees And garden-closes of thick foliage And Ghulb Hada'iq
-
وَفَٰكِهَةࣰ وَأَبࣰّ ا
And fruits and fodder And fruits and grasses And fruits (Fakihah) and herbage (Abb)
-
مَّتَٰعࣰ ا لَّكُمۡ وَلِأَنۡعَٰمِكُمۡ
For use and convenience to you and your cattle Provision for you and your cattle A provision and benefit for you and your cattle
-
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ
At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise But when the Shout cometh Then when there comes As-Sakhkhah
-
يَوۡمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلۡمَرۡءُ مِنۡ أَخِيهِ
That Day shall a man flee from his own brother On the day when a man fleeth from his brother That Day shall a man flee from his brother
-
وَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ
And from his mother and his father And his mother and his father And from his mother and his father
-
وَصَٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ
And from his wife and his children And his wife and his children And from his wife and his children
-
لِكُلِّ ٱمۡرِيࣲٕ مِّنۡهُمۡ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ شَأۡنࣱ يُغۡنِيهِ
Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others) Every man that Day will have enough to make him careless of others
-
وُجُوهࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ مُّسۡفِرَةࣱ
Some faces that Day will be beaming On that day faces will be bright as dawn Some faces that Day will be bright
-
ضَاحِكَةࣱ مُّسۡتَبۡشِرَةࣱ
Laughing, rejoicing Laughing, rejoicing at good news Laughing, rejoicing at good news
-
وَوُجُوهࣱ يَوۡمَئِذٍ عَلَيۡهَا غَبَرَةࣱ
And other faces that Day will be dust-stained And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them And other faces that Day will be dust-stained
-
تَرۡهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ
Blackness will cover them Veiled in darkness Darkness will cover them
-
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡكَفَرَةُ ٱلۡفَجَرَةُ
Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity Those are the disbelievers, the wicked Such will be the disbelieving, the wicked evil doers
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
إِذَا ٱلشَّمۡسُ كُوِّرَتۡ
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up When the sun is overthrown When the sun is Kuwwirat
-
وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتۡ
When the stars fall, losing their lustre And when the stars fall And when the stars Inkadarat
-
وَإِذَا ٱلۡجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتۡ
When the mountains vanish (like a mirage) And when the hills are moved And when the mountains are made to pass away
-
وَإِذَا ٱلۡعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتۡ
When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended And when the camels big with young are abandoned And when the pregnant she-camels are neglected
-
وَإِذَا ٱلۡوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتۡ
When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations) And when the wild beasts are herded together And when the wild beasts are gathered together
-
وَإِذَا ٱلۡبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتۡ
When the oceans boil over with a swell And when the seas rise And when the seas become as blazing fire
-
وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتۡ
When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like) And when souls are reunited And when the souls are joined with their mates
-
وَإِذَا ٱلۡمَوۡءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتۡ
When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked And when the female infant (Al-Maw'udah) buried alive is questioned (Su'ilat)
-
بِأَيِّ ذَنۢبࣲ قُتِلَتۡ
For what crime she was killed For what sin she was slain For what sin was she killed
-
وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتۡ
When the scrolls are laid open And when the pages are laid open And when the pages are laid open
-
وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتۡ
When the world on High is unveiled And when the sky is torn away And when the heaven is Kushitat
-
وَإِذَا ٱلۡجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتۡ
When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat And when hell is lighted And when Hell is Su`irat
-
وَإِذَا ٱلۡجَنَّةُ أُزۡلِفَتۡ
And when the Garden is brought near And when the Garden is brought nigh And when Paradise is brought near
-
عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسࣱ مَّآ أَحۡضَرَتۡ
(Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready Every person will know what he has brought
-
فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلۡخُنَّسِ
So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede Oh, but I call to witness the planets But nay! I swear by Al-Khunnas
-
ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡكُنَّسِ
Go straight, or hide The stars which rise and set Al-Jawar Al-Kunnas
-
وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا عَسۡعَسَ
And the Night as it dissipates And the close of night And by the night when it `As`as
-
وَٱلصُّبۡحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ
And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness And the breath of morning And by the day when it Tanaffas
-
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُولࣲ كَرِيمࣲ
Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger Verily, this is the Word a most honorable messenger
-
ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِي ٱلۡعَرۡشِ مَكِينࣲ
Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne Dhi Quwwah, with the Lord of the Throne -- Makin
-
مُّطَاعࣲ ثَمَّ أَمِينࣲ
With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy Obeyed there, trustworthy
-
وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجۡنُونࣲ
And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed And your comrade is not mad And your companion is not a madman
-
وَلَقَدۡ رَءَاهُ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡمُبِينِ
And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon And indeed he saw him in the clear horizon
-
وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلۡغَيۡبِ بِضَنِينࣲ
Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen And he is not avid of the Unseen And he withholds not a knowledge of the Unseen
-
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَيۡطَٰنࣲ رَّجِيمࣲ
Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned And it is not the word of the outcast Shaytan
-
فَأَيۡنَ تَذۡهَبُونَ
When whither go ye Whither then go ye Then where are you going
-
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكۡرࣱ لِّلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds This is naught else than a reminder unto creation Verily, this is no less than a Reminder for the creatures
-
لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمۡ أَن يَسۡتَقِيمَ
(With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight
-
وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation And you cannot will unless that Allah wills -- the Lord of all that exists
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتۡ
When the Sky is cleft asunder When the heaven is cleft asunder When the heaven is cleft asunder (Infatarat)
-
وَإِذَا ٱلۡكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتۡ
When the Stars are scattered When the planets are dispersed And when the stars Intatharat
-
وَإِذَا ٱلۡبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتۡ
When the Oceans are suffered to burst forth When the seas are poured forth And when the seas Fujjirat
-
وَإِذَا ٱلۡقُبُورُ بُعۡثِرَتۡ
And when the Graves are turned upside down And the sepulchres are overturned And when the graves Bu`thirat
-
عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسࣱ مَّا قَدَّمَتۡ وَأَخَّرَتۡ
(Then) shall each soul know what it hath sent forward and (what it hath) kept back A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind A person will know what he has sent forward and left behind
-
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلۡكَرِيمِ
O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful O man! What has made you careless about your Lord, the Most Generous
-
ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ
Him Who created thee. Fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just bias Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee Who created you, fashioned you perfectly, and gave you due proportion
-
فِيٓ أَيِّ صُورَةࣲ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ
In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together Into whatsoever form He will, He casteth thee In whatever form He willed, He put you together
-
كَلَّا بَلۡ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ
Nay! But ye do reject Right and Judgment Nay, but ye deny the Judgment Nay! But you deny (the Day of) Ad-Din
-
وَإِنَّ عَلَيۡكُمۡ لَحَٰفِظِينَ
But verily over you (are appointed angels) to protect you Lo! there are above you guardians But verily, over you to watch you
-
كِرَامࣰ ا كَٰتِبِينَ
Kind and honourable,- Writing down (your deeds) Generous and recording Kiraman Katibin
-
يَعۡلَمُونَ مَا تَفۡعَلُونَ
They know (and understand) all that ye do Who know (all) that ye do They know all that you do
-
إِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمࣲ
As for the Righteous, they will be in bliss Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight Verily, the Abrar (the righteous believers) will be in Delight
-
وَإِنَّ ٱلۡفُجَّارَ لَفِي جَحِيمࣲ
And the Wicked - they will be in the Fire And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell And verily, the wicked will be in the blazing Fire (Hell)
-
يَصۡلَوۡنَهَا يَوۡمَ ٱلدِّينِ
Which they will enter on the Day of Judgment They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment Therein they will enter, and taste its burning flame on the Day of Recompense
-
وَمَا هُمۡ عَنۡهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ
And they will not be able to keep away therefrom And will not be absent thence And they will not be absent therefrom
-
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا يَوۡمُ ٱلدِّينِ
And what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is And what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is
-
ثُمَّ مَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا يَوۡمُ ٱلدِّينِ
Again, what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is Again, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is Again, what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is
-
يَوۡمَ لَا تَمۡلِكُ نَفۡسࣱ لِّنَفۡسࣲ شَيۡـࣰٔ اۖ وَٱلۡأَمۡرُ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ لِّلَّهِ
(It will be) the Day when no soul shall have power (to do) aught for another: For the command, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah's (It will be) the Day when no person shall have power for another, and the Decision, that Day, will be with Allah
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
وَيۡلࣱ لِّلۡمُطَفِّفِينَ
Woe to those that deal in fraud Woe unto the defrauders Woe to Al-Mutaffifin
-
ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكۡتَالُواْ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسۡتَوۡفُونَ
Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure
-
وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمۡ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمۡ يُخۡسِرُونَ
But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due
-
أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبۡعُوثُونَ
Do they not think that they will be called to account Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again Do they not think that they will be resurrected
-
لِيَوۡمٍ عَظِيمࣲ
On a Mighty Day Unto an Awful Day On a Great Day
-
يَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of all that exists
-
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلۡفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّينࣲ
Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin Nay! Truly, the Record of the wicked is in Sijjin
-
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينࣱ
And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is And what will make you know what Sijjin is
-
كِتَٰبࣱ مَّرۡقُومࣱ
(There is) a Register (fully) inscribed A written record A Register inscribed
-
وَيۡلࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ
Woe, that Day, to those that deny Woe unto the repudiators on that day Woe, that Day, to those who deny
-
ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلدِّينِ
Those that deny the Day of Judgment Those who deny the Day of Judgment Those who deny the Day of Recompense
-
وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعۡتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, the sinner
-
إِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old When Our Ayat are recited to him, he says: "Tales of the ancients
-
كَلَّاۖ بَلۡۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ
By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering) which they used to earn
-
كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمۡ عَن رَّبِّهِمۡ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ لَّمَحۡجُوبُونَ
Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord Nay! Surely, they will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day
-
ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمۡ لَصَالُواْ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell Then lo! they verily will burn in hell Then verily, they will indeed enter the burning flame of Hell
-
ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny
-
كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ
Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin Nay! Verily, the Record of Al-Abrar (the righteous believers) is (preserved) in `Illiyyin
-
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ
And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is And what will make you know what `Illiyyin is
-
كِتَٰبࣱ مَّرۡقُومࣱ
(There is) a Register (fully) inscribed A written record A Register inscribed
-
يَشۡهَدُهُ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ
To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah) Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord) To which bear witness those nearest
-
إِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ
Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss Lo! the righteous verily are in delight Verily, Al-Abrar (the righteous believers) will be in Delight
-
عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things) On couches, gazing On thrones, looking
-
تَعۡرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمۡ نَضۡرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight You will recognize in their faces the brightness of delight
-
يُسۡقَوۡنَ مِن رَّحِيقࣲ مَّخۡتُومٍ
Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed They will be given to drink of pure sealed Rahiq
-
خِتَٰمُهُۥ مِسۡكࣱۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكَ فَلۡيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلۡمُتَنَٰفِسُونَ
The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss Sealed with musk, and for this let those strive who want to strive
-
وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسۡنِيمٍ
With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim And mixed with water of Tasnim It will be mixed with Tasnim
-
عَيۡنࣰ ا يَشۡرَبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ
A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah
-
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجۡرَمُواْ كَانُواْ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ يَضۡحَكُونَ
Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed Verily, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed
-
وَإِذَا مَرُّواْ بِهِمۡ يَتَغَامَزُونَ
And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery) And wink one to another when they passed them And, whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another
-
وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓاْ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُواْ فَكِهِينَ
And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting
-
وَإِذَا رَأَوۡهُمۡ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ
And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray And when they saw them, they said: "Verily, these have indeed gone astray
-
وَمَآ أُرۡسِلُواْ عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَٰفِظِينَ
But they had not been sent as keepers over them Yet they were not sent as guardians over them But they were not sent as watchers over them
-
فَٱلۡيَوۡمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنَ ٱلۡكُفَّارِ يَضۡحَكُونَ
But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers But this Day those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers
-
عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ
On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things) On high couches, gazing On thrones, looking
-
هَلۡ ثُوِّبَ ٱلۡكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُواْ يَفۡعَلُونَ
Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتۡ
When the sky is rent asunder When the heaven is split asunder When the heaven is split asunder
-
وَأَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتۡ
And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so) And attentive to her Lord in fear And listens to and obeys its Lord -- and it must do so
-
وَإِذَا ٱلۡأَرۡضُ مُدَّتۡ
And when the earth is flattened out And when the earth is spread out And when the earth is stretched forth
-
وَأَلۡقَتۡ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتۡ
And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty And has cast out all that was in it and became empty
-
وَأَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتۡ
And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality) And attentive to her Lord in fear And listens to and obeys its Lord -- and it must do so
-
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدۡحࣰ ا فَمُلَٰقِيهِ
O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence) O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions, a sure returning, and you will meet
-
فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ
Then he who is given his Record in his right hand Then whoso is given his account in his right hand Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand
-
فَسَوۡفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابࣰ ا يَسِيرࣰ ا
Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning He truly will receive an easy reckoning He surely will receive an easy reckoning
-
وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ مَسۡرُورࣰ ا
And he will turn to his people, rejoicing And will return unto his folk in joy And will return to his family Masrur (in joy)
-
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهۡرِهِۦ
But he who is given his Record behind his back But whoso is given his account behind his back But whosoever is given his Record behind his back
-
فَسَوۡفَ يَدۡعُواْ ثُبُورࣰ ا
Soon will he cry for perdition He surely will invoke destruction He will invoke destruction
-
وَيَصۡلَىٰ سَعِيرًا
And he will enter a Blazing Fire And be thrown to scorching fire And he shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning
-
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِيٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ مَسۡرُورًا
Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing He verily lived joyous with his folk Verily, he was among his people in joy
-
إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ
Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us) He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah) Verily, he thought that he would never return
-
بَلَىٰٓۚ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرࣰ ا
Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him
-
فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ
So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset But no! I swear by Ash-Shafaq
-
وَٱلَّيۡلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ
The Night and its Homing And by the night and all that it enshroudeth And the night and what it Wasaqa
-
وَٱلۡقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ
And the Moon in her fullness And by the moon when she is at the full And the moon when it Ittasaq
-
لَتَرۡكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقࣲ
Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage That ye shall journey on from plane to plane You shall certainly travel from stage
-
فَمَا لَهُمۡ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ
What then is the matter with them, that they believe not What aileth them, then, that they believe not What is the matter with them, that they believe not
-
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ لَا يَسۡجُدُونَۤ۩
And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah) And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they fall not prostrate
-
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُكَذِّبُونَ
But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it) Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny Nay, those who disbelieve deny
-
وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ
But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding And Allah knows best what they gather
-
فَبَشِّرۡهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
So announce to them a Penalty Grievous So give them tidings of a painful doom So, announce to them a painful torment
-
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمۡ أَجۡرٌ غَيۡرُ مَمۡنُونِۭ
Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing Save those who believe and
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلۡبُرُوجِ
By the sky, (displaying) the Zodiacal Signs By the heaven, holding mansions of the stars By the heaven holding the Buruj
-
وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡمَوۡعُودِ
By the promised Day (of Judgment) And by the Promised Day And by by the Promised Day
-
وَشَاهِدࣲ وَمَشۡهُودࣲ
By one that witnesses, and the subject of the witness And by the witness and that whereunto he beareth testimony And by the Witness and by the Witnessed
-
قُتِلَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡأُخۡدُودِ
Woe to the makers of the pit (of fire) (Self-)destroyed were the owners of the ditch Cursed were the People of the Ditch
-
ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلۡوَقُودِ
Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel Of the fuel-fed fire Of fire fed with fuel
-
إِذۡ هُمۡ عَلَيۡهَا قُعُودࣱ
Behold! they sat over against the (fire) When they sat by it When they sat by it
-
وَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفۡعَلُونَ بِٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ شُهُودࣱ
And they witnessed (all) that they were doing against the Believers And were themselves the witnesses of what they did to the believers And they witnessed what they were doing against the believers
-
وَمَا نَقَمُواْ مِنۡهُمۡ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤۡمِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡحَمِيدِ
And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in Allah, Exalted in Power, Worthy of all Praise They had naught against them save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Owner of Praise And they had no fault except that they believed in Allah, the Almighty, Worthy of all praise
-
ٱلَّذِي لَهُۥ مُلۡكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءࣲ شَهِيدٌ
Him to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness to all things Him unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is of all things the Witness To Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness over everything
-
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُواْ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَتُوبُواْ فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ ٱلۡحَرِيقِ
Those who persecute (or draw into temptation) the Believers, men and women, and do not turn in repentance, will have the Penalty of Hell: They will have the Penalty of the Burning Fire Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning Verily, those who put into trial the believing men and believing women, and then do not turn in repentance, then they will have the torment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the burning Fire
-
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمۡ جَنَّٰتࣱ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡكَبِيرُ
For those who believe and do righteous deeds, will be Gardens; beneath which rivers flow: That is the great Salvation, (the fulfilment of all desires) Lo! those who believe and do good works, theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Great Success Verily, those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow. That is the supreme success
-
إِنَّ بَطۡشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ
Truly strong is the Grip (and Power) of thy Lord Lo! the punishment of thy Lord is stern Verily, the punishment of your Lord is severe and painful
-
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبۡدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ
It is He Who creates from the very beginning, and He can restore (life) Lo! He it is Who produceth, then reproduceth Verily, He it is Who begins and repeats
-
وَهُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلۡوَدُودُ
And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness And He is the Forgiving, the Loving And He is Oft-Forgiving, Al-Wadud
-
ذُو ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡمَجِيدُ
Lord of the Throne of Glory Lord of the Throne of Glory Owner of the Throne, Al-Majid (the Glorious)
-
فَعَّالࣱ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ
Doer (without let) of all that He intends Doer of what He will Doer of what He intends
-
هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلۡجُنُودِ
Has the story reached thee, of the forces Hath there come unto thee the story of the hosts Has the story reached you of the hosts
-
فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَثَمُودَ
Of Pharaoh and the Thamud Of Pharaoh and (the tribe of) Thamud Of Fir`awn and Thamud
-
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فِي تَكۡذِيبࣲ
And yet the Unbelievers (persist) in rejecting (the Truth) Nay, but those who disbelieve live in denial Nay! The disbelievers (persisted) in denying
-
وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطُۢ
But Allah doth encompass them from behind And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them And Allah encompasses them from behind
-
بَلۡ هُوَ قُرۡءَانࣱ مَّجِيدࣱ
Nay, this is a Glorious Qur'an Nay, but it is a glorious Qur'an Nay! This is a Glorious Qur'an
-
فِي لَوۡحࣲ مَّحۡفُوظِۭ
(Inscribed) in a Tablet Preserved On a guarded tablet In Al-Lawh Al-Mahfuz
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلطَّارِقِ
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein) By the heaven and the Morning Star By the heaven, and At-Tariq
-
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلطَّارِقُ
And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is And what will make you to know what At-Tariq is
-
ٱلنَّجۡمُ ٱلثَّاقِبُ
(It is) the Star of piercing brightness The piercing Star The star, Ath-Thaqib
-
إِن كُلُّ نَفۡسࣲ لَّمَّا عَلَيۡهَا حَافِظࣱ
There is no soul but has a protector over it No human soul but hath a guardian over it There is no human being but has a protector over him
-
فَلۡيَنظُرِ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ
Now let man but think from what he is created So let man consider from what he is created So, let man see from what he is created
-
خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءࣲ دَافِقࣲ
He is created from a drop emitted He is created from a gushing fluid He is created from a water gushing forth
-
يَخۡرُجُ مِنۢ بَيۡنِ ٱلصُّلۡبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ
Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs That issued from between the loins and ribs Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs
-
إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَجۡعِهِۦ لَقَادِرࣱ
Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life) Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) Verily, He is Able to bring him back
-
يَوۡمَ تُبۡلَى ٱلسَّرَآئِرُ
The Day that (all) things secret will be tested On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out The Day when all the secrets will be examined
-
فَمَا لَهُۥ مِن قُوَّةࣲ وَلَا نَاصِرࣲ
(Man) will have no power, and no helper Then will he have no might nor any helper Then he will have no power, nor any helper
-
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلرَّجۡعِ
By the Firmament which returns (in its round) By the heaven which giveth the returning rain By the sky which gives rain, again and again
-
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ ذَاتِ ٱلصَّدۡعِ
And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation) And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) And the earth which splits
-
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلࣱ فَصۡلࣱ
Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil) Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word Verily, this is the Word that separates
-
وَمَا هُوَ بِٱلۡهَزۡلِ
It is not a thing for amusement It is no pleasantry And it is not a thing for amusement
-
إِنَّهُمۡ يَكِيدُونَ كَيۡدࣰ ا
As for them, they are but plotting a scheme Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) Verily, they are but plotting a plot
-
وَأَكِيدُ كَيۡدࣰ ا
And I am planning a scheme And I plot a plot (against them) And I am planning a plan
-
فَمَهِّلِ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ أَمۡهِلۡهُمۡ رُوَيۡدَۢا
Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile) So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while So, give a respite to the disbelievers; deal gently with them for a while
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
سَبِّحِ ٱسۡمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلۡأَعۡلَى
Glorify the name of thy Guardian-Lord Most High Praise the name of thy Lord the Most High Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High
-
ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ
Who hath created, and further, given order and proportion Who createth, then disposeth Who has created, and then proportioned it
-
وَٱلَّذِي قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ
Who hath ordained laws. And granted guidance Who measureth, then guideth And Who has measured; and then guided
-
وَٱلَّذِيٓ أَخۡرَجَ ٱلۡمَرۡعَىٰ
And Who bringeth out the (green and luscious) pasture Who bringeth forth the pasturage And Who brings out the pasturage
-
فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحۡوَىٰ
And then doth make it (but) swarthy stubble Then turneth it to russet stubble And then makes it dark stubble
-
سَنُقۡرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ
By degrees shall We teach thee to declare (the Message), so thou shalt not forget We shall make thee read (O Muhammad) so that thou shalt not forget We shall make you recite, so you shall not forget
-
إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعۡلَمُ ٱلۡجَهۡرَ وَمَا يَخۡفَىٰ
Except as Allah wills: For He knoweth what is manifest and what is hidden Save that which Allah willeth. Lo! He knoweth the disclosed and that which still is hidden Except what Allah may will He knows what is apparent and what is hidden
-
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلۡيُسۡرَىٰ
And We will make it easy for thee (to follow) the simple (Path) And We shall ease thy way unto the state of ease And We shall make easy for you the easy
-
فَذَكِّرۡ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ
Therefore give admonition in case the admonition profits (the hearer) Therefor remind (men), for of use is the reminder Therefore remind in case the reminder profits
-
سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخۡشَىٰ
The admonition will be received by those who fear (Allah) He will heed who feareth The reminder will be received by him who fears
-
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلۡأَشۡقَى
But it will be avoided by those most unfortunate ones But the most hapless will flout it But it will be avoided by the wretched
-
ٱلَّذِي يَصۡلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ
Who will enter the Great Fire He who will be flung to the great Fire Who will enter the great Fire
-
ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحۡيَىٰ
In which they will then neither die nor live Wherein he will neither die nor live There he will neither die nor live
-
قَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ
But those will prosper who purify themselves He is successful who groweth Indeed whosoever purifies himself shall achieve success
-
وَذَكَرَ ٱسۡمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ
And glorify the name of their Guardian-Lord, and (lift their hearts) in prayer And remembereth the name of his Lord, so prayeth And remembers the Name of his Lord, and performs Salah
-
بَلۡ تُؤۡثِرُونَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا
Nay (behold), ye prefer the life of this world But ye prefer the life of the world Rather you prefer the life of this world
-
وَٱلۡأٓخِرَةُ خَيۡرࣱ وَأَبۡقَىٰٓ
But the Hereafter is better and more enduring Although the Hereafter is better and more lasting Although the Hereafter is better and more lasting
-
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِي ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ
And this is in the Books of the earliest (Revelation) Lo! This is in the former scrolls Verily, this is in the former Scriptures
-
صُحُفِ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ
The Books of Abraham and Moses The Books of Abraham and Moses The Scriptures of Ibrahim and Musa
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلۡغَٰشِيَةِ
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event) Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming Has there come to you the narration of Al-Ghashiyah (the overwhelming)
-
وُجُوهࣱ يَوۡمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌ
Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated On that day (many) faces will be downcast Some faces that Day will be Khashi`ah
-
عَامِلَةࣱ نَّاصِبَةࣱ
Labouring (hard), weary Toiling, weary Laboring, weary
-
تَصۡلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةࣰ
The while they enter the Blazing Fire Scorched by burning fire They will enter into Fire, Hamiyah
-
تُسۡقَىٰ مِنۡ عَيۡنٍ ءَانِيَةࣲ
The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring Drinking from a boiling spring They will be given to drink from a boiling (Aniyah) spring
-
لَّيۡسَ لَهُمۡ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعࣲ
No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit No food will there be for them but from Dari
-
لَّا يُسۡمِنُ وَلَا يُغۡنِي مِن جُوعࣲ
Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger
-
وُجُوهࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ نَّاعِمَةࣱ
(Other) faces that Day will be joyful In that day other faces will be calm Faces that Day will be joyful
-
لِّسَعۡيِهَا رَاضِيَةࣱ
Pleased with their striving Glad for their effort past Glad with their endeavor
-
فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةࣲ
In a Garden on high In a high Garden In a lofty Paradise
-
لَّا تَسۡمَعُ فِيهَا لَٰغِيَةࣰ
Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity Where they hear no idle speech Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood
-
فِيهَا عَيۡنࣱ جَارِيَةࣱ
Therein will be a bubbling spring Wherein is a gushing spring Therein will be a running spring
-
فِيهَا سُرُرࣱ مَّرۡفُوعَةࣱ
Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high Wherein are couches raised Therein will be thrones raised high
-
وَأَكۡوَابࣱ مَّوۡضُوعَةࣱ
Goblets placed (ready) And goblets set at hand And cups set at hand
-
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصۡفُوفَةࣱ
And cushions set in rows And cushions ranged And Namariq, set in rows
-
وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبۡثُوثَةٌ
And rich carpets (all) spread out And silken carpets spread And Zarabi, spread out (Mabthuthah)
-
أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلۡإِبِلِ كَيۡفَ خُلِقَتۡ
Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made Will they not regard the camels, how they are created Do they not look at the camels, how they are created
-
وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيۡفَ رُفِعَتۡ
And at the Sky, how it is raised high And the heaven, how it is raised And at the heaven, how it is raised
-
وَإِلَى ٱلۡجِبَالِ كَيۡفَ نُصِبَتۡ
And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm And the hills, how they are set up And at the mountains, how they are rooted
-
وَإِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كَيۡفَ سُطِحَتۡ
And at the Earth, how it is spread out And the earth, how it is spread And at the earth, how it is outspread
-
فَذَكِّرۡ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرࣱ
Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer So remind them -- you are only one who reminds
-
لَّسۡتَ عَلَيۡهِم بِمُصَيۡطِرٍ
Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs Thou art not at all a warder over them You are not a Musaytir over them
-
إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ
But if any turn away and reject Allah But whoso is averse and disbelieveth Save the one who turns away and disbelieves
-
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَكۡبَرَ
Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment Allah will punish him with direst punishment Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment
-
إِنَّ إِلَيۡنَآ إِيَابَهُمۡ
For to Us will be their return Lo! unto Us is their return Verily, to Us will be their return
-
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا حِسَابَهُم
Then it will be for Us to call them to account And Ours their reckoning Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
وَٱلۡفَجۡرِ
By the break of Day By the Dawn By the dawn
-
وَلَيَالٍ عَشۡرࣲ
By the Nights twice five And ten nights And by the ten nights
-
وَٱلشَّفۡعِ وَٱلۡوَتۡرِ
By the even and odd (contrasted) And the Even and the Odd And by the even and the odd
-
وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا يَسۡرِ
And by the Night when it passeth away And the night when it departeth And by the night when it departs
-
هَلۡ فِي ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمࣱ لِّذِي حِجۡرٍ
Is there (not) in these an adjuration (or evidence) for those who understand There surely is an oath for thinking man Is there (not) in them sufficient proofs for men of understanding
-
أَلَمۡ تَرَ كَيۡفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ
Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people) Dost thou not consider how thy Lord dealt with (the tribe of) A'ad Saw you not how your Lord dealt with `Ad
-
إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلۡعِمَادِ
Of the (city of) Iram, with lofty pillars With many-columned Iram Iram of the pillars
-
ٱلَّتِي لَمۡ يُخۡلَقۡ مِثۡلُهَا فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ
The like of which were not produced in (all) the land The like of which was not created in the lands The like of which were not created in the land
-
وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُواْ ٱلصَّخۡرَ بِٱلۡوَادِ
And with the Thamud (people), who cut out (huge) rocks in the valley And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley And Thamud, who hewed out rocks in the valley
-
وَفِرۡعَوۡنَ ذِي ٱلۡأَوۡتَادِ
And with Pharaoh, lord of stakes And with Pharaoh, firm of might And Fir`awn with Al-Awtad
-
ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ
(All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands Who (all) were rebellious (to Allah) in these lands Who did transgress beyond bounds in the lands
-
فَأَكۡثَرُواْ فِيهَا ٱلۡفَسَادَ
And heaped therein mischief (on mischief) And multiplied iniquity therein And made therein much mischief
-
فَصَبَّ عَلَيۡهِمۡ رَبُّكَ سَوۡطَ عَذَابٍ
Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements Therefore thy Lord poured on them the disaster of His punishment So, your Lord poured on them different kinds of severe torment
-
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلۡمِرۡصَادِ
For thy Lord is (as a Guardian) on a watch-tower Lo! thy Lord is ever watchful Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful
-
فَأَمَّا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكۡرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّيٓ أَكۡرَمَنِ
Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), "My Lord hath honoured me As for man, whenever his Lord trieth him by honouring him, and is gracious unto him, he saith: My Lord honoureth me As for man, when his Lord tries him by giving him honor and bounties, then he says: "My Lord has honored me
-
وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيۡهِ رِزۡقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّيٓ أَهَٰنَنِ
But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me But whenever He trieth him by straitening his means of life, he saith: My Lord despiseth me But when He tries him by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me
-
كَلَّاۖ بَل لَّا تُكۡرِمُونَ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ
Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan But no! But you treat not the orphans with kindness and generosity
-
وَلَا تَحَٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ
Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor And urge not on the feeding of the poor And urge not one another on the feeding of the Miskin
-
وَتَأۡكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكۡلࣰ ا لَّمࣰّ ا
And ye devour inheritance - all with greed And ye devour heritages with devouring greed And you devour the Turath -- devouring with greed
-
وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡمَالَ حُبࣰّ ا جَمࣰّ ا
And ye love wealth with inordinate love And love wealth with abounding love And you love wealth with love Jamma
-
كَلَّآۖ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ دَكࣰّ ا دَكࣰّ ا
Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder Nay, but when the earth is ground to atoms, grinding, grinding Nay! When the earth is flatened, Dakkan Dakka
-
وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلۡمَلَكُ صَفࣰّ ا صَفࣰّ ا
And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank And thy Lord shall come with angels, rank on rank And your Lord comes with the angels in rows
-
وَجِاْيٓءَ يَوۡمَئِذِۭ بِجَهَنَّمَۚ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ
And Hell, that Day, is brought (face to face),- on that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance profit him And hell is brought near that day; on that day man will remember, but how will the remembrance (then avail him) And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance avail him
-
يَقُولُ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي قَدَّمۡتُ لِحَيَاتِي
He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life He will say: Ah, would that I had sent before me (some provision) for my life He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth for my life
-
فَيَوۡمَئِذࣲ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥٓ أَحَدࣱ
For, that Day, His Chastisement will be such as none (else) can inflict None punisheth as He will punish on that day So on that Day none will punish as He will punish
-
وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُۥٓ أَحَدࣱ
And His bonds will be such as none (other) can bind None bindeth as He then will bind And none will bind as He will bind
-
يَٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفۡسُ ٱلۡمُطۡمَئِنَّةُ
(To the righteous soul will be said:) "O (thou) soul, in (complete) rest and satisfaction But ah! thou soul at peace O tranquil soul
-
ٱرۡجِعِيٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةࣰ مَّرۡضِيَّةࣰ
Come back thou to thy Lord,- well pleased (thyself), and well-pleasing unto Him Return unto thy Lord, content in His good pleasure Come back to your Lord, -- well-pleased and well-pleasing
-
فَٱدۡخُلِي فِي عِبَٰدِي
Enter thou, then, among My devotees Enter thou among My bondmen Enter then among My servants
-
وَٱدۡخُلِي جَنَّتِي
Yea, enter thou My Heaven Enter thou My Garden And enter My Paradise
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
لَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِهَٰذَا ٱلۡبَلَدِ
I do call to witness this City Nay, I swear by this city Nay! I swear by this city
-
وَأَنتَ حِلُّۢ بِهَٰذَا ٱلۡبَلَدِ
And thou art a freeman of this City And thou art an indweller of this city And you are free in this city
-
وَوَالِدࣲ وَمَا وَلَدَ
And (the mystic ties of) parent and child And the begetter and that which he begat And by the begetter and that which he begot
-
لَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ فِي كَبَدٍ
Verily We have created man into toil and struggle We verily have created man in an atmosphere Verily, We have created man in Kabad
-
أَيَحۡسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقۡدِرَ عَلَيۡهِ أَحَدࣱ
Thinketh he, that none hath power over him Thinketh he that none hath power over him Does he think that none can overcome him
-
يَقُولُ أَهۡلَكۡتُ مَالࣰ ا لُّبَدًا
He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth He says: "I have wasted wealth in abundance
-
أَيَحۡسَبُ أَن لَّمۡ يَرَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ
Thinketh he that none beholdeth him Thinketh he that none beholdeth him Does he think that none sees him
-
أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَل لَّهُۥ عَيۡنَيۡنِ
Have We not made for him a pair of eyes Did We not assign unto him two eyes Have We not made for him two eyes
-
وَلِسَانࣰ ا وَشَفَتَيۡنِ
And a tongue, and a pair of lips And a tongue and two lips And a tongue and two lips
-
وَهَدَيۡنَٰهُ ٱلنَّجۡدَيۡنِ
And shown him the two highways And guide him to the parting of the mountain ways And shown him the two ways
-
فَلَا ٱقۡتَحَمَ ٱلۡعَقَبَةَ
But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep But he hath not attempted the Ascent But he has not attempted to pass on the path that is steep
-
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡعَقَبَةُ
And what will explain to thee the path that is steep Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Ascent is And what will make you know the path that is steep
-
فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ
(It is:) freeing the bondman (It is) to free a slave Freeing a neck
-
أَوۡ إِطۡعَٰمࣱ فِي يَوۡمࣲ ذِي مَسۡغَبَةࣲ
Or the giving of food in a day of privation And to feed in the day of hunger Or giving food in a day full of Masghabah
-
يَتِيمࣰ ا ذَا مَقۡرَبَةٍ
To the orphan with claims of relationship An orphan near of kin To an orphan near of kin
-
أَوۡ مِسۡكِينࣰ ا ذَا مَتۡرَبَةࣲ
Or to the indigent (down) in the dust Or some poor wretch in misery Or to a Miskin cleaving to dust
-
ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلصَّبۡرِ وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلۡمَرۡحَمَةِ
Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion And to be of those who believe and exhort one another to perseverance and exhort one another to pity Then he became one of those who believed and recommended one another to patience, and recommended one another to compassion
-
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَيۡمَنَةِ
Such are the Companions of the Right Hand Their place will be on the right hand They are those on the Right
-
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا هُمۡ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡمَشۡـَٔمَةِ
But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand But those who disbelieve Our revelations, their place will be on the left hand But those who disbelieved in Our Ayat, they are those on the Left
-
عَلَيۡهِمۡ نَارࣱ مُّؤۡصَدَةُۢ
On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round) Fire will be an awning over them Upon them Fire will Mu'sadah
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
وَٱلشَّمۡسِ وَضُحَىٰهَا
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour By the sun and his brightness By the sun and Duhaha
-
وَٱلۡقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَىٰهَا
By the Moon as she follows him And the moon when she followeth him By the moon as it Talaha
-
وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّىٰهَا
By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory And the day when it revealeth him By the day as it Jallaha
-
وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا يَغۡشَىٰهَا
By the Night as it conceals it And the night when it enshroudeth him By the night as it Yaghshaha
-
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنَىٰهَا
By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure And the heaven and Him Who built it By the heaven and Ma Banaha
-
وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا طَحَىٰهَا
By the Earth and its (wide) expanse And the earth and Him Who spread it By the earth and Ma Tahhaha
-
وَنَفۡسࣲ وَمَا سَوَّىٰهَا
By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it And a soul and Him Who perfected it By Nafs, and Ma Sawwaha (Who apportioned it)
-
فَأَلۡهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقۡوَىٰهَا
And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it Then He showed it its Fujur and its Taqwa
-
قَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ مَن زَكَّىٰهَا
Truly he succeeds that purifies it He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow Indeed he succeeds who purifies it
-
وَقَدۡ خَابَ مَن دَسَّىٰهَا
And he fails that corrupts it And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it And indeed he fails who Dassaha
-
كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ بِطَغۡوَىٰهَآ
The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride Thamud denied through their trans- gression
-
إِذِ ٱنۢبَعَثَ أَشۡقَىٰهَا
Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety) When the basest of them broke forth When their most wicked went forth
-
فَقَالَ لَهُمۡ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقۡيَٰهَا
But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "Be cautious! That is the she-camel of Allah! (Do not harm it) and (bar it not from having) its drink
-
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمۡدَمَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ رَبُّهُم بِذَنۢبِهِمۡ فَسَوَّىٰهَا
Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low) But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings) Then they denied him and they killed it. So their Lord destroyed them because of their sin, Fasawwaha
-
وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقۡبَٰهَا
And for Him is no fear of its consequences He dreadeth not the sequel (of events) And He feared not the consequences thereof
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا يَغۡشَىٰ
By the Night as it conceals (the light) By the night enshrouding By the night as it envelops
-
وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ
By the Day as it appears in glory And the day resplendent By the day as it appears
-
وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰٓ
By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female And Him Who hath created male and female By Him Who created male and female
-
إِنَّ سَعۡيَكُمۡ لَشَتَّىٰ
Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends) Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse
-
فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أَعۡطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ
So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah) As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) As for him who gives and has Taqwa
-
وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ
And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best And believeth in goodness And believes in Al-Husna
-
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلۡيُسۡرَىٰ
We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease We will make smooth for him the path of ease
-
وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰ
But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent But he who is greedy and thinks himself self-sufficient
-
وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ
And gives the lie to the best And disbelieveth in goodness And denies Al-Husna
-
فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلۡعُسۡرَىٰ
We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery Surely We will ease his way unto adversity We will make smooth for him the path to evil
-
وَمَا يُغۡنِي عَنۡهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ
Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit) His riches will not save him when he perisheth And what will his wealth avail him when he goes down (in destruction)
-
إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا لَلۡهُدَىٰ
Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance Truly, on Us is (to give) guidance
-
وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلۡأٓخِرَةَ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰ
And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world)
-
فَأَنذَرۡتُكُمۡ نَارࣰ ا تَلَظَّىٰ
Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire Therefore I have warned you of a Fire Talazza
-
لَا يَصۡلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلۡأَشۡقَى
None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones Which only the most wretched must endure None shall enter it save the most wretched
-
ٱلَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs He who denieth and turneth away Who denies and turns away
-
وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلۡأَتۡقَى
But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it Far removed from it will be the righteous And those with Taqwa will be far removed from it
-
ٱلَّذِي يُؤۡتِي مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ
Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness) He who gives of his wealth for self-purification
-
وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعۡمَةࣲ تُجۡزَىٰٓ
And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return And none hath with him any favour for reward And who has (in mind) no favor from anyone to be paid back
-
إِلَّا ٱبۡتِغَآءَ وَجۡهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ
But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High Except to seek the Face of his Lord, the Most High
-
وَلَسَوۡفَ يَرۡضَىٰ
And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction He verily will be content He, surely, will be pleased
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
وَٱلضُّحَىٰ
By the Glorious Morning Light By the morning hours By the forenoon
-
وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ
And by the Night when it is still And by the night when it is stillest By the night when it darkens
-
مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ
Thy Guardian-Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased Thy Lord hath not forsaken thee nor doth He hate thee Your Lord has neither forsaken you nor hates you
-
وَلَلۡأٓخِرَةُ خَيۡرࣱ لَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ
And verily the Hereafter will be better for thee than the present And verily the latter portion will be better for thee than the former And indeed the Hereafter is better for you than the present
-
وَلَسَوۡفَ يُعۡطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرۡضَىٰٓ
And soon will thy Guardian-Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased And verily thy Lord will give unto thee so that thou wilt be content And verily, your Lord will give you so that you shall be well-pleased
-
أَلَمۡ يَجِدۡكَ يَتِيمࣰ ا فَـَٔاوَىٰ
Did He not find thee an orphan and give thee shelter (and care) Did He not find thee an orphan and protect (thee) Did He not find you an orphan and gave you a refuge
-
وَوَجَدَكَ ضَآلࣰّ ا فَهَدَىٰ
And He found thee wandering, and He gave thee guidance Did He not find thee wandering and direct (thee) And He found you unaware and guided you
-
وَوَجَدَكَ عَآئِلࣰ ا فَأَغۡنَىٰ
And He found thee in need, and made thee independent Did He not find thee destitute and enrich (thee) And He found you poor and made you rich
-
فَأَمَّا ٱلۡيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقۡهَرۡ
Therefore, treat not the orphan with harshness Therefor the orphan oppress not Therefore, treat not the orphan with oppression
-
وَأَمَّا ٱلسَّآئِلَ فَلَا تَنۡهَرۡ
Nor repulse the petitioner (unheard) Therefor the beggar drive not away And repulse not the one who asks
-
وَأَمَّا بِنِعۡمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثۡ
But the bounty of the Lord - rehearse and proclaim Therefor of the bounty of thy Lord be thy discourse And proclaim the grace of your Lord
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
أَلَمۡ نَشۡرَحۡ لَكَ صَدۡرَكَ
Have We not expanded thee thy breast Have We not caused thy bosom to dilate Have We not opened your breast for you
-
وَوَضَعۡنَا عَنكَ وِزۡرَكَ
And removed from thee thy burden And eased thee of the burden And removed from you your burden
-
ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنقَضَ ظَهۡرَكَ
The which did gall thy back Which weighed down thy back Which weighed down your back
-
وَرَفَعۡنَا لَكَ ذِكۡرَكَ
And raised high the esteem (in which) thou (art held) And exalted thy fame And have We not raised high your fame
-
فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلۡعُسۡرِ يُسۡرًا
So, verily, with every difficulty, there is relief But lo! with hardship goeth ease Verily, along with every hardship is relief
-
إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلۡعُسۡرِ يُسۡرࣰ ا
Verily, with every difficulty there is relief Lo! with hardship goeth ease Verily, along with every hardship is relief
-
فَإِذَا فَرَغۡتَ فَٱنصَبۡ
Therefore, when thou art free (from thine immediate task), still labour hard So when thou art relieved, still toil So when you have finished, devote yourself to Allah's worship
-
وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَٱرۡغَب
And to thy Lord turn (all) thy attention And strive to please thy Lord And to your Lord turn intentions and hopes
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
وَٱلتِّينِ وَٱلزَّيۡتُونِ
By the Fig and the Olive By the fig and the olive By At-Tin and Az-Zaytun
-
وَطُورِ سِينِينَ
And the Mount of Sinai By Mount Sinai By Tur Sinin
-
وَهَٰذَا ٱلۡبَلَدِ ٱلۡأَمِينِ
And this City of security And by this land made safe By this city of security
-
لَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ فِيٓ أَحۡسَنِ تَقۡوِيمࣲ
We have indeed created man in the best of moulds Surely We created man of the best stature Verily, We created man in the best form
-
ثُمَّ رَدَدۡنَٰهُ أَسۡفَلَ سَٰفِلِينَ
Then do We abase him (to be) the lowest of the low Then we reduced him to the lowest of the low Then We reduced him to the lowest of the low
-
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَلَهُمۡ أَجۡرٌ غَيۡرُ مَمۡنُونࣲ
Except such as believe and do righteous deeds: For they shall have a reward unfailing Save those who believe and do good works, and theirs is a reward unfailing Save those who believe and do righteous deeds. Then they shall have a reward without end
-
فَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ بَعۡدُ بِٱلدِّينِ
Then what can, after this, contradict thee, as to the judgment (to come) So who henceforth will give the lie to thee about the judgment Then what causes you to deny after this the Recompense
-
أَلَيۡسَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَحۡكَمِ ٱلۡحَٰكِمِينَ
Is not Allah the wisest of judges Is not Allah the most conclusive of all judges Is not Allah the best of judges
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
ٱقۡرَأۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth Read! In the Name of your Lord Who created
-
خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِنۡ عَلَقٍ
Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood Createth man from a clot He has created man from a clot
-
ٱقۡرَأۡ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلۡأَكۡرَمُ
Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous
-
ٱلَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِٱلۡقَلَمِ
He Who taught (the use of) the pen Who teacheth by the pen Who has taught by the pen
-
عَلَّمَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمۡ يَعۡلَمۡ
Taught man that which he knew not Teacheth man that which he knew not He has taught man that which he knew not
-
كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لَيَطۡغَىٰٓ
Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds Nay, but verily man is rebellious Nay! Verily, man does transgress
-
أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰٓ
In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient That he thinketh himself independent Because he considers himself self-sufficient
-
إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجۡعَىٰٓ
Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all) Lo! unto thy Lord is the return Surely, unto your Lord is the return
-
أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِي يَنۡهَىٰ
Seest thou one who forbids Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth Have you seen him who prevents
-
عَبۡدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ
A votary when he (turns) to pray A slave when he prayeth A servant when he prays
-
أَرَءَيۡتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلۡهُدَىٰٓ
Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) Have you seen if he is on the guidance
-
أَوۡ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقۡوَىٰٓ
Or enjoins Righteousness Or enjoineth piety Or enjoins Taqwa
-
أَرَءَيۡتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward Have you seen if he denies and turns away
-
أَلَمۡ يَعۡلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ
Knoweth he not that Allah doth see Is he then unaware that Allah seeth Knows he not that Allah sees
-
كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمۡ يَنتَهِ لَنَسۡفَعَۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ
Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock Nay! If he ceases not, We will scorch his forehead
-
نَاصِيَةࣲ كَٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةࣲ
A lying, sinful forelock The lying, sinful forelock A lying, sinful forehead
-
فَلۡيَدۡعُ نَادِيَهُۥ
Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades) Then let him call upon his henchmen Then let him call upon his council
-
سَنَدۡعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ
We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him) We will call the guards of hell We will call out the guards of Hell
-
كَلَّا لَا تُطِعۡهُ وَٱسۡجُدۡۤ وَٱقۡتَرِب۩
Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah) Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah) Nay! Do not obey him. Fall prostrate and draw near (to Allah)
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
ٱلرَّحِيمِإِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ فِي لَيۡلَةِ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ
We have indeed revealed this (Message) in the Night of Power Lo! We revealed it on the Night of Predestination Verily, We have sent it down in the Night of Al-Qadr
-
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا لَيۡلَةُ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ
And what will explain to thee what the night of power is Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Night of Power is And what will make you know what the Night of Al-Qadr is
-
لَيۡلَةُ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ خَيۡرࣱ مِّنۡ أَلۡفِ شَهۡرࣲ
The Night of Power is better than a thousand months The Night of Power is better than a thousand months The Night of Al-Qadr is better than a thousand months
-
تَنَزَّلُ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ فِيهَا بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّهِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمۡرࣲ
Therein come down the angels and the Spirit by Allah's permission, on every errand The angels and the Spirit descend therein, by the permission of their Lord, with all decrees Therein descend the angels and the Ruh by their Lord's permission with every matter
-
سَلَٰمٌ هِيَ حَتَّىٰ مَطۡلَعِ ٱلۡفَجۡرِ
Peace!... This until the rise of morn (The night is) Peace until the rising of the dawn There is peace until the appearance of dawn
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
لَمۡ يَكُنِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ حَتَّىٰ تَأۡتِيَهُمُ ٱلۡبَيِّنَةُ
Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, were not going to depart (from their ways) until there should come to them Clear Evidence Those who disbelieve among the People of the Scripture and the idolaters could not have left off (erring) till the clear proof came unto them Those who disbelieve from among the People of the Scripture and the idolators, were not going to leave until there came to them the Bayyinah
-
رَسُولࣱ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ يَتۡلُواْ صُحُفࣰ ا مُّطَهَّرَةࣰ
An messenger from Allah, rehearsing scriptures kept pure and holy A messenger from Allah, reading purified pages A Messenger from Allah reciting purified pages
-
فِيهَا كُتُبࣱ قَيِّمَةࣱ
Wherein are laws (or decrees) right and straight Containing correct scriptures Wherein are upright Books
-
وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا جَآءَتۡهُمُ ٱلۡبَيِّنَةُ
Nor did the People of the Book make schisms, until after there came to them Clear Evidence Nor were the People of the Scripture divided until after the clear proof came unto them And the People of the Scripture differed not until after there came to them the Bayyinah
-
وَمَآ أُمِرُوٓاْ إِلَّا لِيَعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ حُنَفَآءَ وَيُقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤۡتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَۚ وَذَٰلِكَ دِينُ ٱلۡقَيِّمَةِ
And they have been commanded no more than this: To worship Allah, offering Him sincere devotion, being true (in faith); to establish regular prayer; and to practise regular charity; and that is the Religion Right and Straight And they are ordered naught else than to serve Allah, keeping religion pure for Him, as men by nature upright, and to establish worship and to pay the poor-due. That is true religion And they were commanded not, but that they should worship Allah, making religion purely for Him alone, Hunafa', and that they perform Salah and give Zakah, and that is the right religion
-
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنۡ أَهۡلِ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ وَٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآۚ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمۡ شَرُّ ٱلۡبَرِيَّةِ
Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, will be in Hell-Fire, to dwell therein (for aye). They are the worst of creatures Lo! those who disbelieve, among the People of the Scripture and the idolaters, will abide in fire of hell. They are the worst of created beings Verily, those who disbelieve from among the People of the Scripture and idolators, will abide in the fire of Hell. They are the worst of creatures
-
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمۡ خَيۡرُ ٱلۡبَرِيَّةِ
Those who have faith and do righteous deeds,- they are the best of creatures (And) lo! those who believe and do good works are the best of created beings Verily, those who believe and do righteous good deeds, they are the best of creatures
-
جَزَآؤُهُمۡ عِندَ رَبِّهِمۡ جَنَّٰتُ عَدۡنࣲ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدࣰ اۖ رَّضِيَ ٱللَّهُ عَنۡهُمۡ وَرَضُواْ عَنۡهُۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنۡ خَشِيَ رَبَّهُۥ
Their reward is with Allah: Gardens of Eternity, beneath which rivers flow; they will dwell therein for ever; Allah well pleased with them, and they with Him: all this for such as fear their Lord and Cherisher Their reward is with their Lord: Gardens of Eden underneath which rivers flow, wherein they dwell for ever. Allah hath pleasure in them and they have pleasure in Him. This is (in store) for him who feareth his Lord Their reward with their Lord is Eternal Gardens, underneath which rivers flow. They will abide therein forever, Allah will be pleased with them, and they well-pleased with Him. That is for him who fears his Lord
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
إِذَا زُلۡزِلَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ زِلۡزَالَهَا
When the earth is shaken to her (utmost) convulsion When Earth is shaken with her (final) earthquake When the earth quakes with its Zilzal
-
وَأَخۡرَجَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ أَثۡقَالَهَا
And the earth throws up her burdens (from within) And Earth yieldeth up her burdens And when the earth throws out its burdens
-
وَقَالَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَا لَهَا
And man cries (distressed): 'What is the matter with her And man saith: What aileth her And man will say: "What is the matter with it
-
يَوۡمَئِذࣲ تُحَدِّثُ أَخۡبَارَهَا
On that Day will she declare her tidings That day she will relate her chronicles That Day it will declare its information
-
بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوۡحَىٰ لَهَا
For that thy Lord will have given her inspiration Because thy Lord inspireth her Because your Lord will inspire it
-
يَوۡمَئِذࣲ يَصۡدُرُ ٱلنَّاسُ أَشۡتَاتࣰ ا لِّيُرَوۡاْ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ
On that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown the deeds that they (had done) That day mankind will issue forth in scattered groups to be shown their deeds That Day mankind will proceed in scattered groups that they may be shown their deeds
-
فَمَن يَعۡمَلۡ مِثۡقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيۡرࣰ ا يَرَهُۥ
Then shall anyone who has done an atom's weight of good, see it And whoso doeth good an atom's weight will see it then So, whosoever does good equal to the weight of a speck of dust shall see it
-
وَمَن يَعۡمَلۡ مِثۡقَالَ ذَرَّةࣲ شَرࣰّ ا يَرَهُۥ
And anyone who has done an atom's weight of evil, shall see it And whoso doeth ill an atom's weight will see it then And whosoever does evil equal to the weight of a speck of dust shall see it
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
وَٱلۡعَٰدِيَٰتِ ضَبۡحࣰ ا
By the (Steeds) that run, with panting (breath) By the snorting courses By the `Adiyat (steeds), snorting
-
فَٱلۡمُورِيَٰتِ قَدۡحࣰ ا
And strike sparks of fire Striking sparks of fire Striking sparks of fire
-
فَٱلۡمُغِيرَٰتِ صُبۡحࣰ ا
And push home the charge in the morning And scouring to the raid at dawn And scouring to the raid at dawn
-
فَأَثَرۡنَ بِهِۦ نَقۡعࣰ ا
And raise the dust in clouds the while Then, therewith, with their trail of dust And raise the dust in clouds the while
-
فَوَسَطۡنَ بِهِۦ جَمۡعًا
And penetrate forthwith into the midst (of the foe) en masse Cleaving, as one, the centre (of the foe) And penetrating forthwith as one into the midst
-
إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لِرَبِّهِۦ لَكَنُودࣱ
Truly man is, to his Lord, ungrateful Lo! man is an ingrate unto his Lord Verily, man is ungrateful to his Lord
-
وَإِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ لَشَهِيدࣱ
And to that (fact) he bears witness (by his deeds) And lo! he is a witness unto that And to that He bears witness
-
وَإِنَّهُۥ لِحُبِّ ٱلۡخَيۡرِ لَشَدِيدٌ
And violent is he in his love of wealth And lo! in the love of wealth he is violent And verily, he is violent in the love of wealth
-
۞أَفَلَا يَعۡلَمُ إِذَا بُعۡثِرَ مَا فِي ٱلۡقُبُورِ
Does he not know,- when that which is in the graves is scattered abroad Knoweth he not that, when the contents of the graves are poured forth Knows he not that when the contents of the graves are poured forth
-
وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِي ٱلصُّدُورِ
And that which is (locked up) in (human) breasts is made manifest And the secrets of the breasts are made known And that which is in the breasts shall be made known
-
إِنَّ رَبَّهُم بِهِمۡ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ لَّخَبِيرُۢ
That their Lord had been Well-acquainted with them, (even to) that Day On that day will their Lord be perfectly informed concerning them Verily, that Day their Lord will be Well-Acquainted with them
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ
The (Day) of Noise and Clamour The Calamity Al-Qari`ah
-
مَا ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ
What is the (Day) of Noise and Clamour What is the Calamity What is Al-Qari`ah
-
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ
And what will explain to thee what the (Day) of Noise and Clamour is Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Calamity is And what will make you know what Al-Qari`ah is
-
يَوۡمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلۡفَرَاشِ ٱلۡمَبۡثُوثِ
(It is) a Day whereon men will be like moths scattered about A day wherein mankind will be as thickly-scattered moths It is a Day whereon mankind will be like moths scattered about
-
وَتَكُونُ ٱلۡجِبَالُ كَٱلۡعِهۡنِ ٱلۡمَنفُوشِ
And the mountains will be like carded wool And the mountains will become as carded wool And the mountains will be like wool, carded
-
فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتۡ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ
Then, he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) heavy Then, as for him whose scales are heavy (with good works) Then as for him whose Balance will be heavy
-
فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةࣲ رَّاضِيَةࣲ
Will be in a life of good pleasure and satisfaction He will live a pleasant life He will live a pleasant life
-
وَأَمَّا مَنۡ خَفَّتۡ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ
But he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) light But as for him whose scales are light But as for him whose Balance will be light
-
فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةࣱ
Will have his home in a (bottomless) Pit A bereft and Hungry One will be his mother His mother will be Hawiyah
-
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهۡ
And what will explain to thee what this is Ah, what will convey unto thee what she is And what will make you know what it is
-
نَارٌ حَامِيَةُۢ
(It is) a Fire Blazing fiercely Raging Fire A fire Hamiyah
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
أَلۡهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ
The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things) Rivalry in worldly increase distracteth you The mutual increase diverts you
-
حَتَّىٰ زُرۡتُمُ ٱلۡمَقَابِرَ
Until ye visit the graves Until ye come to the graves Until you visit the graves
-
كَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ
But nay, ye soon shall know (the reality) Nay, but ye will come to know Nay! You shall come to know
-
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ
Again, ye soon shall know Nay, but ye will come to know Again nay! You shall come to know
-
كَلَّا لَوۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ عِلۡمَ ٱلۡيَقِينِ
Nay, were ye to know with certainty of mind, (ye would beware) Nay, would that ye knew (now) with a sure knowledge Nay! If you knew with a sure knowledge
-
لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ
Ye shall certainly see Hell-Fire For ye will behold hell-fire Verily, you shall see the blazing Fire
-
ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيۡنَ ٱلۡيَقِينِ
Again, ye shall see it with certainty of sight Aye, ye will behold it with sure vision And again, you shall see it with certainty of sight
-
ثُمَّ لَتُسۡـَٔلُنَّ يَوۡمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
Then, shall ye be questioned that Day about the joy (ye indulged in) Then, on that day, ye will be asked concerning pleasure Then on that Day you shall be asked about the delights
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
وَٱلۡعَصۡرِ
By (the Token of) Time (through the ages) By the declining day By Al-`Asr
-
إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لَفِي خُسۡرٍ
Verily Man is in loss Lo! man is a state of loss Verily, man is in loss
-
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلصَّبۡرِ
Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy Save those who believe and do good works, and exhort one another to truth and exhort one another to endurance Except those who believe and do righteous deeds, and recommend one another to the truth, and recommend one another to patience
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
وَيۡلࣱ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةࣲ لُّمَزَةٍ
Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter Woe unto every slandering traducer Woe to every Humazah Lumazah
-
ٱلَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالࣰ ا وَعَدَّدَهُۥ
Who pileth up wealth and layeth it by Who hath gathered wealth (of this world) and arranged it Who has gathered wealth and counted it
-
يَحۡسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُۥٓ أَخۡلَدَهُۥ
Thinking that his wealth would make him last for ever He thinketh that his wealth will render him immortal He thinks that his wealth will make him last forever
-
كَلَّاۖ لَيُنۢبَذَنَّ فِي ٱلۡحُطَمَةِ
By no means! He will be sure to be thrown into That which Breaks to Pieces Nay, but verily he will be flung to the Consuming One But no! Verily, he will be thrown into Al-Hutamah
-
وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡحُطَمَةُ
And what will explain to thee That which Breaks to Pieces Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Consuming One is And what will make you know what Al-Hutamah is
-
نَارُ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُوقَدَةُ
(It is) the Fire of (the Wrath of) Allah kindled (to a blaze) (It is) the fire of Allah, kindled The fire of Allah, Al-Muqadah
-
ٱلَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى ٱلۡأَفۡـِٔدَةِ
The which doth mount (Right) to the Hearts Which leapeth up over the hearts (of men) Which leaps up over the hearts
-
إِنَّهَا عَلَيۡهِم مُّؤۡصَدَةࣱ
It shall be made into a vault over them Lo! it is closed in on them Verily, it shall Mu'sadah upon them
-
فِي عَمَدࣲ مُّمَدَّدَةِۭ
In columns outstretched In outstretched columns In pillars stretched forth
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
أَلَمۡ تَرَ كَيۡفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلۡفِيلِ
Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the Companions of the Elephant Hast thou not seen how thy Lord dealt with the owners of the Elephant Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with the Owners of the Elephant
-
أَلَمۡ يَجۡعَلۡ كَيۡدَهُمۡ فِي تَضۡلِيلࣲ
Did He not make their treacherous plan go astray Did He not bring their stratagem to naught Did He not make their plot go astray
-
وَأَرۡسَلَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ طَيۡرًا أَبَابِيلَ
And He sent against them Flights of Birds And send against them swarms of flying creatures And He sent against them birds, in flocks (Ababil)
-
تَرۡمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةࣲ مِّن سِجِّيلࣲ
Striking them with stones of baked clay Which pelted them with stones of baked clay Striking them with stones of Sijjil
-
فَجَعَلَهُمۡ كَعَصۡفࣲ مَّأۡكُولِۭ
Then did He make them like an empty field of stalks and straw, (of which the corn) has been eaten up And made them like green crops devoured (by cattle) And He made them like `Asf, Ma'kul
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
لِإِيلَٰفِ قُرَيۡشٍ
For the covenants (of security and safeguard enjoyed) by the Quraish For the taming of Qureysh For the Ilaf of the Quraysh
-
إِۦلَٰفِهِمۡ رِحۡلَةَ ٱلشِّتَآءِ وَٱلصَّيۡفِ
Their covenants (covering) journeys by winter and summer For their taming (We cause) the caravans to set forth in winter and summer Their Ilaf caravans, in winter and in summer
-
فَلۡيَعۡبُدُواْ رَبَّ هَٰذَا ٱلۡبَيۡتِ
Let them adore the Lord of this House So let them worship the Lord of this House So, let them worship the Lord of this House
-
ٱلَّذِيٓ أَطۡعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعࣲ وَءَامَنَهُم مِّنۡ خَوۡفِۭ
Who provides them with food against hunger, and with security against fear (of danger) Who hath fed them against hunger and hath made them safe from fear Who has fed them against hunger, and has made them safe from fear
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّينِ
Seest thou one who denies the Judgment (to come) Hast thou observed him who belieth religion Have you seen him who denies Ad-Din
-
فَذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِي يَدُعُّ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ
Then such is the (man) who repulses the orphan (with harshness) That is he who repelleth the orphan That is he who repulses the orphan
-
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ
And encourages not the feeding of the indigent And urgeth not the feeding of the needy And urges not the feeding of Al-Miskin
-
فَوَيۡلࣱ لِّلۡمُصَلِّينَ
So woe to the worshippers Ah, woe unto worshippers So, woe unto those performers of Salah
-
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَن صَلَاتِهِمۡ سَاهُونَ
Who are neglectful of their prayers Who are heedless of their prayer Those who with their Salah are Sahun
-
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ يُرَآءُونَ
Those who (want but) to be seen (of men) Who would be seen (at worship) Those who do good deeds only to be seen
-
وَيَمۡنَعُونَ ٱلۡمَاعُونَ
But refuse (to supply) (even) neighbourly needs Yet refuse small kindnesses And withhold Al-Ma`un
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
إِنَّآ أَعۡطَيۡنَٰكَ ٱلۡكَوۡثَرَ
To thee have We granted the Fount (of Abundance) Lo! We have given thee Abundance Verily, We have granted you Al-Kawthar
-
فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَٱنۡحَرۡ
Therefore to thy Lord turn in Prayer and Sacrifice So pray unto thy Lord, and sacrifice Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and sacrifice
-
إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ ٱلۡأَبۡتَرُ
For he who hateth thee, he will be cut off (from Future Hope) Lo! it is thy insulter (and not thou) who is without posterity For he who hates you, he will be cut off
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
قُلۡ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ
Say: O ye that reject Faith Say: O disbelievers Say: "O disbelievers
-
لَآ أَعۡبُدُ مَا تَعۡبُدُونَ
I worship not that which ye worship I worship not that which ye worship I worship not that which you worship
-
وَلَآ أَنتُمۡ عَٰبِدُونَ مَآ أَعۡبُدُ
Nor will ye worship that which I worship Nor worship ye that which I worship Nor will you worship whom I worship
-
وَلَآ أَنَا۠ عَابِدࣱ مَّا عَبَدتُّمۡ
And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship And I shall not worship that which ye worship And I shall not worship that which you are worshipping
-
وَلَآ أَنتُمۡ عَٰبِدُونَ مَآ أَعۡبُدُ
Nor will ye worship that which I worship Nor will ye worship that which I worship Nor will you worship that which I worship
-
لَكُمۡ دِينُكُمۡ وَلِيَ دِينِ
To you be your Way, and to me mine Unto you your religion, and unto me my religion To you be your religion, and to me my religion
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
إِذَا جَآءَ نَصۡرُ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡفَتۡحُ
When comes the Help of Allah, and Victory When Allah's succour and the triumph cometh When there comes the help of Allah and the Conquest
-
وَرَأَيۡتَ ٱلنَّاسَ يَدۡخُلُونَ فِي دِينِ ٱللَّهِ أَفۡوَاجࣰ ا
And thou dost see the people enter Allah's Religion in crowds And thou seest mankind entering the religion of Allah in troops And you see that the people enter Allah's religion in crowds
-
فَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡهُۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ تَوَّابَۢا
Celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and pray for His Forgiveness: For He is Oft-Returning (in Grace and Mercy) Then hymn the praises of thy Lord, and seek forgiveness of Him. Lo! He is ever ready to show mercy So, glorify the praises of your Lord, and ask His forgiveness. Verily, He is the One Who accepts the repentance and Who forgives
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
تَبَّتۡ يَدَآ أَبِي لَهَبࣲ وَتَبَّ
Perish the hands of the Father of Flame! Perish he The power of Abu Lahab will perish, and he will perish Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab and perish he
-
مَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ
No profit to him from all his wealth, and all his gains His wealth and gains will not exempt him His wealth and his children will not benefit him
-
سَيَصۡلَىٰ نَارࣰ ا ذَاتَ لَهَبࣲ
Burnt soon will he be in a Fire of Blazing Flame He will be plunged in flaming Fire He will enter a Fire full of flames
-
وَٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلۡحَطَبِ
His wife shall carry the (crackling) wood - As fuel And his wife, the wood-carrier And his wife too, who carries wood
-
فِي جِيدِهَا حَبۡلࣱ مِّن مَّسَدِۭ
A twisted rope of palm-leaf fibre round her (own) neck Will have upon her neck a halter of palm-fibre In her neck is a twisted rope of Masad
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
قُلۡ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
Say: He is Allah, the One and Only Say: He is Allah, the One Say: "He is Allah, One
-
ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ
Allah, the Eternal, Absolute Allah, the eternally Besought of all Allah As-Samad
-
لَمۡ يَلِدۡ وَلَمۡ يُولَدۡ
He begetteth not, nor is He begotten He begetteth not nor was begotten He begets not, nor was He begotten
-
وَلَمۡ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدُۢ
And there is none like unto Him And there is none comparable unto Him And there is none comparable to Him
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
قُلۡ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلۡفَلَقِ
Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the Dawn Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the Daybreak Say: "I seek refuge with the Lord of Al-Falaq
-
مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
From the mischief of created things From the evil of that which He created From the evil of what He has created
-
وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ
From the mischief of Darkness as it overspreads From the evil of the darkness when it is intense And from the evil of the Ghasiq when Waqab
-
وَمِن شَرِّ ٱلنَّفَّٰثَٰتِ فِي ٱلۡعُقَدِ
From the mischief of those who practise secret arts And from the evil of malignant witchcraft And from the evil of the blowers in knots
-
وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ
And from the mischief of the envious one as he practises envy And from the evil of the envier when he envieth And from the evil of the envier when he envies
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
قُلۡ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلنَّاسِ
Say: I seek refuge with the Lord and Cherisher of Mankind Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind Say: "I seek refuge with the Lord of An-Nas
-
مَلِكِ ٱلنَّاسِ
The King (or Ruler) of Mankind The King of mankind The King of An-Nas
-
إِلَٰهِ ٱلنَّاسِ
The god (or judge) of Mankind The god of mankind The God of An-Nas
-
مِن شَرِّ ٱلۡوَسۡوَاسِ ٱلۡخَنَّاسِ
From the mischief of the Whisperer (of Evil), who withdraws (after his whisper) From the evil of the sneaking whisperer From the evil of the whisperer who withdraws
-
ٱلَّذِي يُوَسۡوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ ٱلنَّاسِ
(The same) who whispers into the hearts of Mankind Who whispereth in the hearts of mankind Who whispers in the breasts of An-Nas
-
مِنَ ٱلۡجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ
Among Jinns and among men Of the jinn and of mankind Of Jinn and An-Nas
