  1. 40:50 الْمُؤْمِنِ Ghafir

    قَالُوٓاْ أَوَلَمۡ تَكُ تَأۡتِيكُمۡ رُسُلُكُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِۖ قَالُواْ بَلَىٰۚ قَالُواْ فَٱدۡعُواْۗ وَمَا دُعَٰٓؤُاْ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَٰلٍ

    They will say: "Did there not come to you your messengers with Clear Signs?" They will say, "Yes". They will reply, "Then pray (as ye like)! But the prayer of those without Faith is nothing but (futile wandering) in (mazes of) error

    قَالُواْ وَجَدۡنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا لَهَا عَٰبِدِينَ

    They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them

    When they meet those who believe, they say: "We believe;" but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say: "We are really with you: We (were) only jesting

  14. 4:97 النِّسَآءِ An-Nisaa

    إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ تَوَفَّىٰهُمُ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ ظَالِمِيٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ قَالُواْ فِيمَ كُنتُمۡۖ قَالُواْ كُنَّا مُسۡتَضۡعَفِينَ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ قَالُوٓاْ أَلَمۡ تَكُنۡ أَرۡضُ ٱللَّهِ وَٰسِعَةࣰ فَتُهَاجِرُواْ فِيهَاۚ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ مَأۡوَىٰهُمۡ جَهَنَّمُۖ وَسَآءَتۡ مَصِيرًا

    When angels take the souls of those who die in sin against their souls, they say: "In what (plight) Were ye?" They reply: "Weak and oppressed Were we in the earth." They say: "Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to move yourselves away (From evil)?" Such men will find their abode in Hell,- What an evil refuge

  15. 37:29 الصَّافَّاتِ As-Saaffaat

    قَالُواْ بَل لَّمۡ تَكُونُواْ مُؤۡمِنِينَ

    They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith

    They said, "Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham

  24. 26:74 الشُّعَرَآءِ Ash-Shu'araa

    قَالُواْ بَلۡ وَجَدۡنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفۡعَلُونَ

    They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)

  25. 36:16 يٰسٓ Yaseen

    قَالُواْ رَبُّنَا يَعۡلَمُ إِنَّآ إِلَيۡكُمۡ لَمُرۡسَلُونَ

    They said: "Our Lord doth know that we have been sent on a mission to you

  26. 83:32 المُطَفِّفِيْنَ Al-Mutaffifin

    وَإِذَا رَأَوۡهُمۡ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ

    And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray

    وَلَا تَكُونُواْ كَٱلَّذِينَ قَالُواْ سَمِعۡنَا وَهُمۡ لَا يَسۡمَعُونَ

    Nor be like those who say, "We hear," but listen not

  28. 15:55 الْحِجْرِ Al-Hijr

    قَالُواْ بَشَّرۡنَٰكَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡقَٰنِطِينَ

    They said: "We give thee glad tidings in truth: be not then in despair

  29. 18:4 الْكَهْفِ Al-Kahf

    وَيُنذِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُواْ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَدࣰ ا

    Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son

  30. 21:60 الْاَنْۣبِيَآءِ Al-Anbiyaa

    قَالُواْ سَمِعۡنَا فَتࣰ ى يَذۡكُرُهُمۡ يُقَالُ لَهُۥٓ إِبۡرَٰهِيمُ

    They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham

  31. 21:68 الْاَنْۣبِيَآءِ Al-Anbiyaa

    قَالُواْ حَرِّقُوهُ وَٱنصُرُوٓاْ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ فَٰعِلِينَ

    They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)

  32. 26:50 الشُّعَرَآءِ Ash-Shu'araa

    قَالُواْ لَا ضَيۡرَۖ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ

    They said: "No matter! for us, we shall but return to our Lord

  33. 26:71 الشُّعَرَآءِ Ash-Shu'araa

    قَالُواْ نَعۡبُدُ أَصۡنَامࣰ ا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَٰكِفِينَ

    They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them

  34. 26:111 الشُّعَرَآءِ Ash-Shu'araa

    ۞قَالُوٓاْ أَنُؤۡمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلۡأَرۡذَلُونَ

    They said: "Shall we believe in thee when it is the meanest that follow thee

  35. 79:12 النَّازِعَاتِ An-Naazi'aat

    قَالُواْ تِلۡكَ إِذࣰ ا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةࣱ‏

    They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss

    قَالُواْ فَمَا جَزَٰٓؤُهُۥٓ إِن كُنتُمۡ كَٰذِبِينَ

    (The Egyptians) said: "What then shall be the penalty of this, if ye are (proved) to have lied

  37. 15:53 الْحِجْرِ Al-Hijr

    قَالُواْ لَا تَوۡجَلۡ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَٰمٍ عَلِيمࣲ‏

    They said: "Fear not! We give thee glad tidings of a son endowed with wisdom

  38. 15:63 الْحِجْرِ Al-Hijr

    قَالُواْ بَلۡ جِئۡنَٰكَ بِمَا كَانُواْ فِيهِ يَمۡتَرُونَ

    They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt

  39. 52:26 الطُّوْرِ At-Tur

    قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبۡلُ فِيٓ أَهۡلِنَا مُشۡفِقِينَ

    They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people

  40. 12:44 يُوسُفَ Yusuf

    قَالُوٓاْ أَضۡغَٰثُ أَحۡلَٰمࣲۖ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِتَأۡوِيلِ ٱلۡأَحۡلَٰمِ بِعَٰلِمِينَ

    They said: "A confused medley of dreams: and we are not skilled in the interpretation of dreams

  41. 21:55 الْاَنْۣبِيَآءِ Al-Anbiyaa

    قَالُوٓاْ أَجِئۡتَنَا بِٱلۡحَقِّ أَمۡ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱللَّٰعِبِينَ

    They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest

  42. 26:116 الشُّعَرَآءِ Ash-Shu'araa

    قَالُواْ لَئِن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ يَٰنُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمَرۡجُومِينَ

    They said: "If thou desist not, O Noah! thou shalt be stoned (to death)

  43. 26:167 الشُّعَرَآءِ Ash-Shu'araa

    قَالُواْ لَئِن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ يَٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُخۡرَجِينَ

    They said: "If thou desist not, O Lut! thou wilt assuredly be cast out

  44. 10:76 يُوْنُسَ Yunus

    فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِنۡ عِندِنَا قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسِحۡرࣱ مُّبِينࣱ‏

    When the Truth did come to them from Us, they said: "This is indeed evident sorcery

  45. 12:61 يُوسُفَ Yusuf

    قَالُواْ سَنُرَٰوِدُ عَنۡهُ أَبَاهُ وَإِنَّا لَفَٰعِلُونَ

    They said: "We shall certainly seek to get our wish about him from his father: Indeed we shall do it

  46. 12:97 يُوسُفَ Yusuf

    قَالُواْ يَٰٓأَبَانَا ٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا خَٰطِـِٔينَ

    They said: "O our father! ask for us forgiveness for our sins, for we were truly at fault

  47. 21:61 الْاَنْۣبِيَآءِ Al-Anbiyaa

    قَالُواْ فَأۡتُواْ بِهِۦ عَلَىٰٓ أَعۡيُنِ ٱلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَشۡهَدُونَ

    They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may bear witness

  48. 23:106 الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ Al-Muminoon

    قَالُواْ رَبَّنَا غَلَبَتۡ عَلَيۡنَا شِقۡوَتُنَا وَكُنَّا قَوۡمࣰ ا ضَآلِّينَ

    They will say: "our Lord! Our misfortune overwhelmed us, and we became a people astray

  49. 37:97 الصَّافَّاتِ As-Saaffaat

    قَالُواْ ٱبۡنُواْ لَهُۥ بُنۡيَٰنࣰ ا فَأَلۡقُوهُ فِي ٱلۡجَحِيمِ

    They said, "Build him a furnace, and throw him into the blazing fire

  50. 21:59 الْاَنْۣبِيَآءِ Al-Anbiyaa

    قَالُواْ مَن فَعَلَ هَٰذَا بِـَٔالِهَتِنَآ إِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

    They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety
