68:23 Al-Qalam (The Pen)
فَٱنطَلَقُواْ وَهُمۡ يَتَخَٰفَتُونَ
So they departed, conversing in secret low tones, (saying)

فاندفعوا مسرعين، وهم يتسارُّون بالحديث فيما بينهم: بأن لا تمكِّنوا اليوم أحدا من المساكين من دخول حديقتكم.

قال مجاهد: كان حرثهم عنبا "فانطلقوا وهم يتخافتون" أي يتناجون فيما بينهم بحيث لا يسمعون أحدا كلامهم. ثم فسر الله سبحانه وتعالى عالم السر والنجوى ما كانوا يتخافتون به.

So off they went whispering to one another talking secretly

فَتَنَادَوْا مُصْبِحِينَ (So, they called out each other as the morning broke 68:21). This means that they starting waking up each other in the early morning that they should set out early if they wanted to harvest.
وَهُمْ يَتَخَافَتُونَ (...while they were whispering to each other ... 68:23). They were speaking in a low voice, lest a poor man should hear their talk and accompany them.
