بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
حمٓ
Ha-Mim Ha. Mim Ha Mim
-
وَٱلۡكِتَٰبِ ٱلۡمُبِينِ
By the Book that makes things clear By the Scripture that maketh plain By the manifest Book that makes things clear
-
إِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ فِي لَيۡلَةࣲ مُّبَٰرَكَةٍۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ
We sent it down during a Blessed Night: for We (ever) wish to warn (against Evil) Lo! We revealed it on a blessed night - Lo! We are ever warning We sent it down on a blessed night. Verily, We are ever warning
-
فِيهَا يُفۡرَقُ كُلُّ أَمۡرٍ حَكِيمٍ
In the (Night) is made distinct every affair of wisdom Whereon every wise command is made clear Therein (that night) is decreed every matter, Hakim
-
أَمۡرࣰ ا مِّنۡ عِندِنَآۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرۡسِلِينَ
By command, from Our Presence. For We (ever) send (revelations) As a command from Our presence - Lo! We are ever sending As a command from Us. Verily, We are ever sending
-
رَحۡمَةࣰ مِّن رَّبِّكَۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
As Mercy from thy Lord: for He hears and knows (all things) A mercy from thy Lord. Lo! He, even He is the Hearer, the Knower (As) a mercy from your Lord. Verily, He is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower
-
رَبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَآۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an assured faith Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye would be sure The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you (but) have a faith with certainty
-
لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحۡيِۦ وَيُمِيتُۖ رَبُّكُمۡ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors There is no Allah save Him. He quickeneth and giveth death; your Lord and Lord of your forefathers La ilaha illa Huwa. He gives life and causes death -- your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers
-
بَلۡ هُمۡ فِي شَكࣲّ يَلۡعَبُونَ
Yet they play about in doubt Nay, but they play in doubt Nay! They play about in doubt
-
فَٱرۡتَقِبۡ يَوۡمَ تَأۡتِي ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانࣲ مُّبِينࣲ
Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly visible But watch thou (O Muhammad) for the day when the sky will produce visible smoke Then wait you for the Day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke
-
يَغۡشَى ٱلنَّاسَۖ هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمࣱ
Enveloping the people: this will be a Penalty Grievous That will envelop the people. This will be a painful torment Covering mankind, this is a painful torment
-
رَّبَّنَا ٱكۡشِفۡ عَنَّا ٱلۡعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤۡمِنُونَ
(They will say:) "Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us, for we do really believe (Then they will say): Our Lord relieve us of the torment. Lo! we are believers (They will say): "Our Lord! Remove the torment from us, really we shall become believers
-
أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ وَقَدۡ جَآءَهُمۡ رَسُولࣱ مُّبِينࣱ
How shall the message be (effectual) for them, seeing that an Messenger explaining things clearly has (already) come to them How can there be remembrance for them, when a messenger making plain (the Truth) had already come unto them How can there be for them an admonition, when a Messenger explaining things clearly has already come to them
-
ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوۡاْ عَنۡهُ وَقَالُواْ مُعَلَّمࣱ مَّجۡنُونٌ
Yet they turn away from him and say: "Tutored (by others), a man possessed And they had turned away from him and said: One taught (by others), a madman Then they had turned away from him and said: "(He is) one taught, a madman
-
إِنَّا كَاشِفُواْ ٱلۡعَذَابِ قَلِيلًاۚ إِنَّكُمۡ عَآئِدُونَ
We shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while, (but) truly ye will revert (to your ways) Lo! We withdraw the torment a little. Lo! ye return (to disbelief) Verily, We shall remove the torment for a while. Verily, you will revert
-
يَوۡمَ نَبۡطِشُ ٱلۡبَطۡشَةَ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰٓ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ
One day We shall seize you with a mighty onslaught: We will indeed (then) exact Retribution On the day when We shall seize them with the greater seizure, (then) in truth We shall punish On the Day when We shall strike you with the great Batshah. Verily, We will exact retribution
-
۞وَلَقَدۡ فَتَنَّا قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَجَآءَهُمۡ رَسُولࣱ كَرِيمٌ
We did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh: there came to them a messenger most honourable And verily We tried before them Pharaoh's folk, when there came unto them a noble messenger And indeed We tried before them Fir`awn's people, when there came to them a noble Messenger
-
أَنۡ أَدُّوٓاْ إِلَيَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِۖ إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينࣱ
Saying: "Restore to me the Servants of Allah: I am to you an messenger worthy of all trust Saying: Give up to me the slaves of Allah. Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you Saying: "Deliver to me the servants of Allah. Verily, I am to you a Messenger worthy of all trust
-
وَأَن لَّا تَعۡلُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِۖ إِنِّيٓ ءَاتِيكُم بِسُلۡطَٰنࣲ مُّبِينࣲ
And be not arrogant as against Allah: for I come to you with authority manifest And saying: Be not proud against Allah. Lo! I bring you a clear warrant And exalt not yourselves against Allah. Truly, I have come to you with a manifest authority
-
وَإِنِّي عُذۡتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمۡ أَن تَرۡجُمُونِ
For me, I have sought safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring me And lo! I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest ye stone me to death And truly, I seek refuge with my Lord and your Lord, lest you should stone me
-
وَإِن لَّمۡ تُؤۡمِنُواْ لِي فَٱعۡتَزِلُونِ
If ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me And if ye put no faith in me, then let me go But if you believe me not, then keep away from me and leave me alone
-
فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوۡمࣱ مُّجۡرِمُونَ
(But they were aggressive:) then he cried to his Lord: "These are indeed a people given to sin And he cried unto his Lord, (saying): These are guilty folk So he (Musa) called upon his Lord (saying): "These are indeed the people who are criminals
-
فَأَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِي لَيۡلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
(The reply came:) "March forth with My Servants by night: for ye are sure to be pursued Then (his Lord commanded): Take away My slaves by night. Lo! ye will be followed (Allah said): "Depart you with My servants by night. Surely, you will be pursued
-
وَٱتۡرُكِ ٱلۡبَحۡرَ رَهۡوًاۖ إِنَّهُمۡ جُندࣱ مُّغۡرَقُونَ
And leave the sea as a furrow (divided): for they are a host (destined) to be drowned And leave the sea behind at rest, for lo! they are a drowned host And leave the sea as it is (quiet and divided). Verily, they are a host to be drowned
-
كَمۡ تَرَكُواْ مِن جَنَّٰتࣲ وَعُيُونࣲ
How many were the gardens and springs they left behind How many were the gardens and the watersprings that they left behind How many of gardens and springs that they (Fir`awn's people) left behind
-
وَزُرُوعࣲ وَمَقَامࣲ كَرِيمࣲ
And corn-fields and noble buildings And the cornlands and the goodly sites And green crops (fields) and goodly places
-
وَنَعۡمَةࣲ كَانُواْ فِيهَا فَٰكِهِينَ
And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight And pleasant things wherein they took delight And comforts of life wherein they used to take delight
-
كَذَٰلِكَۖ وَأَوۡرَثۡنَٰهَا قَوۡمًا ءَاخَرِينَ
Thus (was their end)! And We made other people inherit (those things) Even so (it was), and We made it an inheritance for other folk Thus (it was)! And We made other people inherit them
-
فَمَا بَكَتۡ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَمَا كَانُواْ مُنظَرِينَ
And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a respite (again) And the heaven and the earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved And the heavens and the earth wept not for them, nor were they given respite
-
وَلَقَدۡ نَجَّيۡنَا بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَٰٓءِيلَ مِنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡمُهِينِ
We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment And We delivered the Children of Israel from the shameful doom And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment
-
مِن فِرۡعَوۡنَۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَالِيࣰ ا مِّنَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ
Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors (We delivered them) from Pharaoh. Lo! he was a tyrant of the wanton ones From Fir`awn; verily, he was arrogant and was of the excessive
-
وَلَقَدِ ٱخۡتَرۡنَٰهُمۡ عَلَىٰ عِلۡمٍ عَلَى ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures And We chose them above the nations (Al-`Alamin) with knowledge
-
وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡأٓيَٰتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَٰٓؤࣱ اْ مُّبِينٌ
And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial And We gave them portents wherein was a clear trial And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial
-
إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَيَقُولُونَ
As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth Lo! these, forsooth, are saying Verily, these people are saying
-
إِنۡ هِيَ إِلَّا مَوۡتَتُنَا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ
There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected
-
فَأۡتُواْ بِـَٔابَآئِنَآ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ
Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth Then bring back our forefathers, if you speak the truth
-
أَهُمۡ خَيۡرٌ أَمۡ قَوۡمُ تُبَّعࣲ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَٰهُمۡۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ مُجۡرِمِينَ
What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty Are they better or the people of Tubba` and those before them We destroyed them because they were indeed criminals
-
وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا لَٰعِبِينَ
We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play
-
مَا خَلَقۡنَٰهُمَآ إِلَّا بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ
We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand We created them not save with truth; but most of them know not We created them not except with truth, but most of them know not
-
إِنَّ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ مِيقَٰتُهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ
Verily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them Assuredly the Day of Decision is the term for all of them Verily, the Day of Judgement is the time appointed for all of them
-
يَوۡمَ لَا يُغۡنِي مَوۡلًى عَن مَّوۡلࣰ ى شَيۡـࣰٔ ا وَلَا هُمۡ يُنصَرُونَ
The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive A day when friend can in naught avail friend, nor can they be helped The Day when a near relative cannot avail a near relative in aught, and no help can they receive
-
إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
Except such as receive Allah's Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful Except him on whom Allah has mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful
-
إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ ٱلزَّقُّومِ
Verily the tree of Zaqqum Lo! the tree of Zaqqum Verily, the tree of Zaqqum
-
طَعَامُ ٱلۡأَثِيمِ
Will be the food of the Sinful The food of the sinner Will be the food of the sinners
-
كَٱلۡمُهۡلِ يَغۡلِي فِي ٱلۡبُطُونِ
Like molten brass; it will boil in their insides Like molten brass, it seetheth in their bellies Like boiling oil, it will boil in the bellies
-
كَغَلۡيِ ٱلۡحَمِيمِ
Like the boiling of scalding water As the seething of boiling water Like the boiling of scalding water
-
خُذُوهُ فَٱعۡتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَآءِ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
A voice will cry: "Seize ye him and drag him into the midst of the Blazing Fire (And it will be said): Take him and drag him to the midst of hell (It will be said:) "Seize him and drag him into the midst of blazing Fire
-
ثُمَّ صُبُّواْ فَوۡقَ رَأۡسِهِۦ مِنۡ عَذَابِ ٱلۡحَمِيمِ
Then pour over his head the Penalty of Boiling Water Then pour upon his head the torment of boiling water Then pour over his head the torment of boiling water
-
ذُقۡ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡكَرِيمُ
Taste thou (this)! Truly wast thou mighty, full of honour (Saying): Taste! Lo! thou wast forsooth the mighty, the noble Taste you (this)! Verily, you were (pretending to be) the mighty, the generous
-
إِنَّ هَٰذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَمۡتَرُونَ
Truly this is what ye used to doubt Lo! this is that whereof ye used to doubt Verily, this is that whereof you used to doubt
-
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي مَقَامٍ أَمِينࣲ
As to the Righteous (they will be) in a position of Security Lo! those who kept their duty will be in a place secured Verily, those who have Taqwa, will be in place of security
-
فِي جَنَّٰتࣲ وَعُيُونࣲ
Among Gardens and Springs Amid gardens and watersprings Among Gardens and Springs
-
يَلۡبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسࣲ وَإِسۡتَبۡرَقࣲ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ
Dressed in fine silk and in rich brocade, they will face each other Attired in silk and silk embroidery, facing one another Dressed in Sundus and Istabraq, facing each other
-
كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجۡنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينࣲ
So; and We shall join them to fair women with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes Even so (it will be). And We shall wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes So (it will be). And We shall marry them to Hur (fair females) with wide lovely eyes
-
يَدۡعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَٰكِهَةٍ ءَامِنِينَ
There can they call for every kind of fruit in peace and security They call therein for every fruit in safety They will call therein for every kind of fruit in peace and security
-
لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا ٱلۡمَوۡتَ إِلَّا ٱلۡمَوۡتَةَ ٱلۡأُولَىٰۖ وَوَقَىٰهُمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ
Nor will they there taste Death, except the first death; and He will preserve them from the Penalty of the Blazing Fire They taste not death therein, save the first death. And He hath saved them from the doom of hell They will never taste death therein except the first death, and He will save them from the torment of the blazing Fire
-
فَضۡلࣰ ا مِّن رَّبِّكَۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ
As a Bounty from thy Lord! that will be the supreme achievement A bounty from thy Lord. That is the supreme triumph As a bounty from your Lord! That will be the supreme success
-
فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرۡنَٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
Verily, We have made this (Qur'an) easy, in thy tongue, in order that they may give heed And We have made (this Scripture) easy in thy language only that they may heed Certainly, We have made this easy in your tongue, in order that they may remember
-
فَٱرۡتَقِبۡ إِنَّهُم مُّرۡتَقِبُونَ
So wait thou and watch; for they (too) are waiting Wait then (O Muhammad). Lo! they (too) are waiting Wait then; verily, they (too) are waiting
