7:185 Al-A'raaf (The Heights)

أولم ينظر هؤلاء المكذبون بآيات الله في ملك الله العظيم وسلطانه القاهر في السموات والأرض، وما خلق الله -جلَّ ثناؤه- من شيء فيهما، فيتدبروا ذلك ويعتبروا به، وينظروا في آجالهم التي عست أن تكون قَرُبَتْ فيهلكوا على كفرهم، ويصيروا إلى عذاب الله وأليم عقابه؟ فبأي تخويف وتحذير بعد تحذير القرآن يصدقون ويعملون؟

أَوَلَمْ يَنْظُرُوا فِي مَلَكُوتِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأرْضِ فإنهم إذا نظروا إليها، وجدوها أدلة دالة على توحيد ربها، وعلى ما له من صفات الكمال. و كذلك لينظروا إلى جميع مَا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فإن جميع أجزاء العالم، يدل أعظم دلالة على اللّه وقدرته وحكمته وسعة رحمته، وإحسانه، ونفوذ مشيئته، وغير ذلك من صفاته العظيمة، الدالة على تفرده بالخلق والتدبير، الموجبة لأن يكون هو المعبود المحمود، المسبح الموحد المحبوب. وقوله: وَأَنْ عَسَى أَنْ يَكُونَ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ أَجَلُهُمْ أي: لينظروا في خصوص حالهم، وينظروا لأنفسهم قبل أن يقترب أجلهم، ويفجأهم الموت وهم في غفلة معرضون، فلا يتمكنون حينئذ، من استدراك الفارط. فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ أي: إذا لم يؤمنوا بهذا الكتاب الجليل، فبأي حديث يؤمنون به؟\" أبكتب الكذب والضلال؟ أم بحديث كل مفتر دجال؟ ولكن الضال لا حيلة فيه، ولا سبيل إلى هدايته.

يقول تعالى: أو لم ينظر هؤلاء المكذبون بآياتنا في ملك الله وسلطانه في السماوات والأرض وفيما خلق من شيء فيهما فيتدبروا ذلك ويعتبروا به ويعلموا أن ذلك لمن لا نظير له ولا شبيه ومن فعل من لا ينبغي أن تكون العبادة والدين الخالص إلا له فيؤمنوا به ويصدقوا رسوله وينيبوا إلى طاعته ويخلعوا الأنداد والأوثان ويحذروا أن تكون آجالهم قد اقتربت فيهلكوا على كفرهم ويصيروا إلى عذاب الله وأليم عقابه وقوله "فبأي حديث بعده يؤمنون" يقول فبأي تخويف وتحذير وترهيب بعد تحذير محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم وترهيبه الذي أتاهم به من عند الله في آي كتابه يصدقون إن لم يصدقوا بهذا الحديث الذي جاءهم به محمد من عند الله عز وجل؟ وقد روى الإمام أحمد عن حسن بن موسى وعثمان بن مسلم وعبدالصمد بن عبدالوارث كلهم عن حماد بن سلمة عن علي بن زيد بن جدعان عن أبي الصلت عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم "رأيت ليلة أسري بي كذا فلما انتهينا إلى السماء السابعة فنظرت فوقي فإذا أنا برعد وبرق وصواعق" وأتيت على قوم بطونهم كالبيوت فيها الحيات ترى من خارج بطونهم قلت من هؤلاء يا جبريل؟ قال هؤلاء أكلة الربا فلما نزلت إلى السماء الدنيا فنظرت إلى أسفل مني فإذا أنا برهج ودخان وأصوات فقلت ما هذا يا جبريل؟ قال هؤلاء الشياطين يحومون على أعين بني آدم أن لا يتفكروا في ملكوت السماوات والأرض ولولا ذلك لرأوا العجائب" علي بن زيد بن جدعان له منكرات. ثم قال تعالى:.

And have they not reflected upon the dominion the kingdom malakūt is mulk of the heaven and of the earth and upon what things God has created min shay’in is an explication of the preceding mā ‘what’ so that they are able to infer the power of their Creator and His Oneness and upon that upon the fact that it may be that their term is already near so that they might hasten to believe lest they die as disbelievers and move towards the Fire? In what fact then after this that is the Qur’ān will they believe?

The verse 185 has invited mankind to practice two important things. Firstly, to make thoughtful observation of the creation of Allah, the heavens, the earth and the things existing between them. Secondly, to be mindful of the period of life given to an individual. It does not require to be a genius to perceive the signs of Allah's power and wisdom in everything around us. A little amount of serious thought is enough to make one see that everything, rather every particle of this world, is singing the praise of it's Creator and is, in itself, a strong proof of Allah's power and wisdom. Any one applying his intellect in conscious observation of things cannot avoid natural demand of faith in Allah, the One.

Being mindful of uncertain period of one's life makes him more active in attaining his objectives, because he is not sure how much time of life he has at his disposal. It would be noticed that all crimes and evil deeds are activated by disregard to one's death. Those who are conscious of their indefinite period of life mostly avoid involving themselves in unwanted activities. The Holy Prophet ﷺ said:

اَکثرُوا ذکرَھَا ذِم اللَّذَّاتِ المؤت

"Frequently remember the thing which eliminates the pleasures - the death."

The verse 185, has therefore said:

"Have they not looked into the kingdoms of the heavens and the earth, and into things Allah has created, and into the fact that their time may possibly have drawn near."

The Arabic word مَلَکُوت (Malakut) signifies kingdom indicating a superlative degree, that is, the great Kingdom. The verse implies that the disbelievers have not used their common intellect in seeking the Truth which is evident in everything created by Allah, nor are they mindful of the uncertainty of life which may come to an end any moment, depriving them of all the chances of accepting the truth and repenting to Allah for their evil deeds. The last sentence of the verse warned them saying:

"In what other word, then, shall they believe after it?" That is Allah has provided them with transparent signs, both internal and external, of the right path and of the True Faith. Those who are neglectful of such clear signs, there is nothing in the world to guide them to the right path.
