5:119 Al-Maaida (The Table)

قال الله تعالى لعيسى عليه السلام يوم القيامة: هذا يوم الجزاء الذي ينفع الموحدين توحيدهم ربهم، وانقيادهم لشرعه، وصدقهم في نياتهم وأقوالهم وأعمالهم، لهم جنات تجري من تحت قصورها الأنهار، ماكثين فيها أبدًا، رضي الله عنهم فقبل حسناتهم، ورضوا عنه بما أعطاهم من جزيل ثوابه. ذلك الجزاء والرضا منه عليهم هو الفوز العظيم.

{ قَالَ اللَّهُ } مبينا لحال عباده يوم القيامة، ومَن الفائز منهم ومَن الهالك، ومَن الشقي ومَن السعيد، { هَذَا يَوْمُ يَنْفَعُ الصَّادِقِينَ صِدْقُهُمْ } والصادقون هم الذين استقامت أعمالهم وأقوالهم ونياتهم على الصراط المستقيم والهدْي القويم، فيوم القيامة يجدون ثمرة ذلك الصدق، إذا أحلهم الله في مقعد صدق عند مليك مقتدر، ولهذا قال: { لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ ذَلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ } والكاذبون بضدهم، سيجدون ضرر كذبهم وافترائهم، وثمرة أعمالهم الفاسدة.

يقول تعالى مجيبا لعبده ورسوله عيسى ابن مريم عليه السلام فيما أنهاه إليه من التبري من النصارى الملحدين الكاذبين على الله وعلى رسوله ومن رد المشيئة فيهم إلى ربه عز وجل فعند ذلك يقول تعالى" هذا يوم ينفع الصادقين صدقهم" قال الضحاك عن ابن عباس: يقول يوم ينفع الموحدين توحيدهم" لهم جنات تجري من تحتها الأنهار خالدين فيها أبدا" أي ماكثين فيها لا يحولون ولا يزولون " رضي الله عنهم ورضوا عنه" كما قال تعالي " ورضوان من الله أكبر" وسيأتي ما يتعلق بتلك الآية من الحديث وروى ابن أبي حاتم ههنا حديثا عن أنس فقال: حدثنا أبو سعيد الأشج حدثنا المحاربي عن ليث عن عثمان يعني ابن عمير أخبرنا اليقظان عن أنس مرفوعا قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم "ثم يتجلى لهم الرب جل جلاله فيقول سلوني سلوني أعطكم قال فيسألونه الرضا فيقول رضاي أحلكم داري وأنا لكم كرامتي فسلوني أعطكم فيسألونه الرضا قال فيشهدهم أنه قد رضي عنهم سبحانه وتعالى" وقوله ذلك الفوز العظيم" أي هذا الفوز الكبير الذي لا أعظم منه كما قال تعالى" لمثل هذا فليعمل العاملون" وكما قال" وفي ذلك فليتنافس المتنافسون ".

God says ‘This namely the Day of Resurrection is the day those who were truthful in the world like Jesus shall profit by their truthfulness because this is the Day of Requital. Theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow wherein they shall abide forever. God is well-pleased with them because of their obedience to Him and they are well-pleased with Him with His reward — that is the great triumph’. The sincerity of those who were liars in this world shall not avail them on that Day just as it shall not avail the disbelievers when they believe upon seeing the chastisement.

The Linkage of Verses

The first two sections (Ruku`) appearing earlier describe some of the happenings on the day of Qiyamah such as the reckoning, the questions and their answers. Mentioned now is the outcome of the probe and reckoning of that fateful day.

Notes

1. Verse 119 opens with the words: قَالَ اللَّـهُ هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ يَنفَعُ الصَّادِقِينَ صِدْقُهُمْ (Allah said, "This is a day the truth of the truthful shall bring benefit to them). Generally, what is according to what has happened is called truth while that which is not according to what has happened is referred to as false or a lie. But, according to the -Qur'an and Sunnah, sidq (truth) and kidhb کِذب (lie) are general, that is, they refer to both words and deeds. As such, given here is a Hadith in which counter-factual deed has been called kidhb مَن تَحَلَّی بِمَا لَم یُعطَ کَانَ کَلَابِسِ ثَوبَی زُورِ [ that is, whoever adorns himself (or herself) with what has not been given to him (or her) (that is, claims a quality or deed not in him or her) then, it is as if he has put on two garbs of a lie – [ Mishkat ].

There is another Hadith in which one who makes Salah with care and concern, whether in public or in private, has been called a true servant of Allah:

اِن ال (علیہ السلام) عبدَ اِذا صَلَّی فِی السِّرِّ فَاَحسَنَ قَالَ اللہ تَعَالٰی ھٰزَا عَبدی

A person who performs Salah openly, then, does it well; and when performs it in private, then, does it well, then, Allah Ta'ala says: ` This is My servant - in truth. - Mishkat.

2. About the statement: رضِيَ اللَّـهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَ‌ضُوا عَنْهُ (Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him - 119), it appears in Hadith that, after having blessed true believers with Jannah (Paradise), Allah Ta` ala will say: The real blessing is that I am pleased with you and now I shall never be displeased with you.

3. The words appearing after that are: ذَٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ (That is the great achievement). Indeed, so it is. When Allah Jalla Sha'nuhu, the Master, the Creator is pleased with you, what else could it be?

فَلِلَّہِ الحَمدُ اَوَّلَہ وَ اٰخِرَہ
