وَٱذۡكُرۡ فِي ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ إِدۡرِيسَۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صِدِّيقࣰ ا نَّبِيࣰّ ا
Also mention in the Book the case of Idris: He was a man of truth (and sincerity), (and) a prophet
And make mention in the Scripture of Idris. Lo! he was a saint, a prophet

ذكر إدريس عليه السلام بالثناء عليه بأنه كان صديقا نبيا وأن الله رفعه مكانا عليا وقد تقدم في الصحيح أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم مر به في ليلة الإسراء وهو في السماء الرابعة. وقد روى ابن جرير ههنا أثرا غريبا عجيبا فقال: حدثني يونس بن عبدالأعلى أنبأنا ابن وهب أخبرني جرير بن حازم عن سليمان الأعمش عن شمر بن عطية عن هلال ابن يساف قال سأل ابن عباس كعبا وأنا حاضر فقال له ما قول الله عز وجل لإدريس "ورفعناه مكانا عليا" فقال كعب أما إدريس فإن الله أوحى إليه أنى أرفع لك كل يوم مثل عمل جميع بني آدم فأحب أن يزداد عملا فأتاه خليل له من الملائكة فقال له إن الله أوحى إلي كذا وكذا فكلم لي ملك الموت فليؤخرني حتى أزداد عملا فحمله بين جناحيه حتى صعد به إلى السماء فلما كان في السماء الرابعة تلقاهم ملك الموت منحدرا فكلم ملك الموت في الذي كلمه فيه إدريس فقال وأين إدريس؟ فقال هو ذا على ظهري قال ملك الموت العجب بعثت وقيل لي اقبض روح إدريس في السماء الرابعة فجعلت أقول كيف أقبض روحه في السماء الرابعة وهو في الأرض فقبض روحه هناك.

Mentioning Idris
Allah complimented Idris for being a truthful Prophet and He mentioned that he raised him to a high station. It has previously been mentioned that in the Sahih it is recorded that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by Idris on the night of the Isra (Night Journey) and he (Idris) was in the fourth heaven. Sufyan reported from Mansur that Mujahid said,
وَرَفَعْنَاهُ مَكَاناً عَلِيّاً
(And We raised him to a high station.) "This means the fourth heaven." Al-Hasan and others said concer- ning Allah's statement,
وَرَفَعْنَاهُ مَكَاناً عَلِيّاً
(And We raised him to a high station.) "This means Paradise."

And mention in the Book Idrīs who was Noah’s great-grandfather. Indeed he was a truthful one a prophet.

وَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ إِدْرِيسَ
"And mention in the Book (the story of) Idris." - 19:56.
Sayyidna Idris (علیہ السلام) lived one thousand years before Sayyidna Nuh (علیہ السلام) and was among his ancestors. (Ruh ul-Ma` ani with reference to Mustadrak al-Hakim). He was the first Prophet after Sayyidna Adam (علیہ السلام) and Allah Ta’ ala bestowed upon him thirty books. (Abi zar- Zamkhashari). Sayyidna Idris (علیہ السلام) was the first man who was given the knowledge of astrology and mathematics through a miracle, (Bahr ul-Muhit). He was also the first man who learnt how to write with a pen, and also the first who invented stitching of cloth, people used to wear animal skins instead of clothes before his time. He also invented measurement tools for the first time. Making of weapons also started in his time and he used them in his wars - the Holy wars : جھاد)Jihad) against the descendents of Qabil (بنو قابیل) (Bahr ul-Muhit, Qurtubi, Mazhari, Ruh ul-Ma ani)
