The QiblaWeb Qibla page works on iPhone in two layers:

  1. Calculated bearing — the angle from your location to the Kaaba. Computed in your browser. Always shown.
  2. Live compass (optional) — the gold needle rotates with the phone. Requires Safariʼs Motion & Orientation permission.

Enabling Motion & Orientation on iPhone Safari

  1. Tap "Use my location" → grant the geolocation prompt. The bearing now shows.
  2. Tap "Enable compass". Safari shows a Motion & Orientation prompt — tap Allow.
  3. The needle starts rotating with your phone heading.

If the compass is unstable

iPhone magnetometers are affected by metal cases, MagSafe, headphones, and proximity to electronics. Move the phone in a figure-8 pattern away from cars and chargers. The site shows a calibration warning when readings vary by more than 25° while you hold the phone still.

If readings remain unstable, the calculated bearing is still correct — sight a landmark in that direction.

If the prompt does not appear

Settings → Safari → Motion & Orientation Access. Make sure access is allowed. Then refresh the QiblaWeb page and try Enable compass again.
