If you have ever opened two prayer apps in the same city and seen a 5–10 minute difference for Fajr, the cause is the calculation method. Each method picks a different angle for Fajr and Isha twilight.
The five methods QiblaWeb supports
| Method | Common region |
|---|---|
| MWL (18° / 17°) | Europe, Far East, much of the world by default |
| ISNA (15° / 15°) | North America |
| Umm al-Qura (18.5° / Maghrib + 90 min) | Saudi Arabia, GCC |
| Egyptian (19.5° / 17.5°) | Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Malaysia, parts of Africa |
| Karachi (18° / 18°) | Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Afghanistan |
How to pick
- Default to your region. QiblaWeb city pages apply the regional default automatically.
- Override if your community follows a different one. The selector on every prayer-times page lets you switch with no server round-trip.
- Follow your local mosque if it differs. The mosqueʼs published timetable trumps any calculator. Mosques sometimes apply small offsets.
