بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
-
وَٱلۡفَجۡرِ
By the break of Day By the Dawn By the dawn
-
وَلَيَالٍ عَشۡرࣲ
By the Nights twice five And ten nights And by the ten nights
-
وَٱلشَّفۡعِ وَٱلۡوَتۡرِ
By the even and odd (contrasted) And the Even and the Odd And by the even and the odd
-
وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا يَسۡرِ
And by the Night when it passeth away And the night when it departeth And by the night when it departs
-
هَلۡ فِي ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمࣱ لِّذِي حِجۡرٍ
Is there (not) in these an adjuration (or evidence) for those who understand There surely is an oath for thinking man Is there (not) in them sufficient proofs for men of understanding
-
أَلَمۡ تَرَ كَيۡفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ
Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people) Dost thou not consider how thy Lord dealt with (the tribe of) A'ad Saw you not how your Lord dealt with `Ad
-
إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلۡعِمَادِ
Of the (city of) Iram, with lofty pillars With many-columned Iram Iram of the pillars
-
ٱلَّتِي لَمۡ يُخۡلَقۡ مِثۡلُهَا فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ
The like of which were not produced in (all) the land The like of which was not created in the lands The like of which were not created in the land
-
وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُواْ ٱلصَّخۡرَ بِٱلۡوَادِ
And with the Thamud (people), who cut out (huge) rocks in the valley And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley And Thamud, who hewed out rocks in the valley
-
وَفِرۡعَوۡنَ ذِي ٱلۡأَوۡتَادِ
And with Pharaoh, lord of stakes And with Pharaoh, firm of might And Fir`awn with Al-Awtad
-
ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡبِلَٰدِ
(All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands Who (all) were rebellious (to Allah) in these lands Who did transgress beyond bounds in the lands
-
فَأَكۡثَرُواْ فِيهَا ٱلۡفَسَادَ
And heaped therein mischief (on mischief) And multiplied iniquity therein And made therein much mischief
-
فَصَبَّ عَلَيۡهِمۡ رَبُّكَ سَوۡطَ عَذَابٍ
Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements Therefore thy Lord poured on them the disaster of His punishment So, your Lord poured on them different kinds of severe torment
-
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلۡمِرۡصَادِ
For thy Lord is (as a Guardian) on a watch-tower Lo! thy Lord is ever watchful Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful
-
فَأَمَّا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكۡرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّيٓ أَكۡرَمَنِ
Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), "My Lord hath honoured me As for man, whenever his Lord trieth him by honouring him, and is gracious unto him, he saith: My Lord honoureth me As for man, when his Lord tries him by giving him honor and bounties, then he says: "My Lord has honored me
-
وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيۡهِ رِزۡقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّيٓ أَهَٰنَنِ
But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me But whenever He trieth him by straitening his means of life, he saith: My Lord despiseth me But when He tries him by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me
-
كَلَّاۖ بَل لَّا تُكۡرِمُونَ ٱلۡيَتِيمَ
Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan But no! But you treat not the orphans with kindness and generosity
-
وَلَا تَحَٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِينِ
Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor And urge not on the feeding of the poor And urge not one another on the feeding of the Miskin
-
وَتَأۡكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكۡلࣰ ا لَّمࣰّ ا
And ye devour inheritance - all with greed And ye devour heritages with devouring greed And you devour the Turath -- devouring with greed
-
وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡمَالَ حُبࣰّ ا جَمࣰّ ا
And ye love wealth with inordinate love And love wealth with abounding love And you love wealth with love Jamma
-
كَلَّآۖ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ دَكࣰّ ا دَكࣰّ ا
Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder Nay, but when the earth is ground to atoms, grinding, grinding Nay! When the earth is flatened, Dakkan Dakka
-
وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلۡمَلَكُ صَفࣰّ ا صَفࣰّ ا
And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank And thy Lord shall come with angels, rank on rank And your Lord comes with the angels in rows
-
وَجِاْيٓءَ يَوۡمَئِذِۭ بِجَهَنَّمَۚ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ
And Hell, that Day, is brought (face to face),- on that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance profit him And hell is brought near that day; on that day man will remember, but how will the remembrance (then avail him) And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance avail him
-
يَقُولُ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي قَدَّمۡتُ لِحَيَاتِي
He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life He will say: Ah, would that I had sent before me (some provision) for my life He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth for my life
-
فَيَوۡمَئِذࣲ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥٓ أَحَدࣱ
For, that Day, His Chastisement will be such as none (else) can inflict None punisheth as He will punish on that day So on that Day none will punish as He will punish
-
وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُۥٓ أَحَدࣱ
And His bonds will be such as none (other) can bind None bindeth as He then will bind And none will bind as He will bind
-
يَٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفۡسُ ٱلۡمُطۡمَئِنَّةُ
(To the righteous soul will be said:) "O (thou) soul, in (complete) rest and satisfaction But ah! thou soul at peace O tranquil soul
-
ٱرۡجِعِيٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةࣰ مَّرۡضِيَّةࣰ
Come back thou to thy Lord,- well pleased (thyself), and well-pleasing unto Him Return unto thy Lord, content in His good pleasure Come back to your Lord, -- well-pleased and well-pleasing
-
فَٱدۡخُلِي فِي عِبَٰدِي
Enter thou, then, among My devotees Enter thou among My bondmen Enter then among My servants
-
وَٱدۡخُلِي جَنَّتِي
Yea, enter thou My Heaven Enter thou My Garden And enter My Paradise
