9:96 At-Tawba (The Repentance)

وقوله‏:‏ ‏{‏يَحْلِفُونَ لَكُمْ لِتَرْضَوْا عَنْهُمْ‏}‏ أي‏:‏ ولهم أيضًا هذا المقصد الآخر منكم، غير مجرد الإعراض، بل يحبون أن ترضوا عنهم، كأنهم ما فعلوا شيئًا‏.‏ ‏{‏فَإِنْ تَرْضَوْا عَنْهُمْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَرْضَى عَنِ الْقَوْمِ الْفَاسِقِينَ‏}‏ أي‏:‏ فلا ينبغي لكم ـ أيها المؤمنون ـ أن ترضوا عن من لم يرض اللّه عنه، بل عليكم أن توافقوا ربكم في رضاه وغضبه‏.‏ وتأمل كيف قال‏:‏ ‏{‏فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَرْضَى عَنِ الْقَوْمِ الْفَاسِقِينَ‏}‏ ولم يقل‏:‏ ‏\"‏فإن اللّه لا يرضى عنهم‏\"‏ ليدل ذلك على أن باب التوبة مفتوح، وأنهم مهما تابوا هم أو غيرهم، فإن اللّه يتوب عليهم، ويرضى عنهم‏.‏ وأما ما داموا فاسقين، فإن اللّه لا يرضى عليهم، لوجود المانع من رضاه، وهو خروجهم عن ما رضيه اللّه لهم من الإيمان والطاعة، إلى ما يغضبه من الشرك، والنفاق، والمعاصي‏.‏ وحاصل ما ذكره اللّه أن المنافقين المتخلفين عن الجهاد من غير عذر، إذا اعتذروا للمؤمنين، وزعموا أن لهم أعذارا في تخلفهم، فإن المنافقين يريدون بذلك أن تعرضوا عنهم، وترضوا وتقبلوا عذرهم، فأما قبول العذر منهم والرضا عنهم، فلا حبا ولا كرامة لهم‏.‏ وأما الإعراض عنهم، فيعرض المؤمنون عنهم، إعراضهم عن الأمور الردية والرجس، وفي هذه الآيات، إثبات الكلام للّه تعالى في قوله‏:‏ ‏{‏قَدْ نَبَّأَنَا اللَّهُ مِنْ أَخْبَارِكُمْ‏}‏ وإثبات الأفعال الاختيارية للّه، الواقعة بمشيئته ‏[‏تعالى‏]‏ وقدرته في هذا، وفي قوله‏:‏ ‏{‏وَسَيَرَى اللَّهُ عَمَلَكُمْ وَرَسُولُهُ‏}‏ أخبر أنه سيراه بعد وقوعه، وفيها إثبات الرضا للّه عن المحسنين، والغضب والسخط على الفاسقين‏.‏

وأخبر أنهم إن رضوا عنهم بحلفهم لهم " فإن الله لا يرضى عن القوم الفاسقين " أي الخارجين عن طاعة الله وطاعة رسوله فإن الفسق هو الخروج ومنه سميت الفأرة فويسقة لخروجها من جحرها للإفساد ويقال فسقت الرطبة إذا خرجت من أكمامها.

Exposing the Deceitful Ways of Hypocrites

Allah said that when the believers go back to Al-Madinah, the hypocrites will begin apologizing to them.

قُل لاَّ تَعْتَذِرُواْ لَن نُّؤْمِنَ لَكُمْ

(Say "Present no excuses, we shall not believe you."), we shall not believe what you say,

قَدْ نَبَّأَنَا اللَّهُ مِنْ أَخْبَارِكُمْ

(Allah has already informed us of the news concerning you.) Allah has exposed your news to us,

وَسَيَرَى اللَّهُ عَمَلَكُمْ وَرَسُولُهُ

(Allah and His Messenger will observe your deeds.) your actions will be made public to people in this life,

ثُمَّ تُرَدُّونَ إِلَى عَـلِمِ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَـدَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

(In the end you will be brought back to the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen, then He (Allah) will inform you of what you used to do.) Allah will inform you of your deeds, whether they were good or evil, and will recompense you for them. Allah said that the hypocrites will swear to the believers in apology, so that the believers turn away from them without admonishing them. Therefore, Allah ordered disgracing them by turning away from them, for they are,

رِجْسٌ

(Rijs) meaning, impure inwardly and in their creed. Their destination in the end will be Jahannam,

جَزَآءً بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَ

(a recompense for that which they used to earn.) of sins and evil deeds. Allah said that if the believers forgive the hypocrites when they swear to them,

فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَرْضَى عَنِ الْقَوْمِ الْفَـسِقِينَ

(certainly Allah is not pleased with the people who are Fasiqin.) who rebel against the obedience of Allah and His Messenger . `Fisq', means, `deviation'.

They will swear to you that you may be satisfied with them; but if you are satisfied with them God will surely not be satisfied with the wicked folk that is with them your satisfaction is of no avail in the face of the wrath of God.

2. The third instruction given to the Holy Prophet ﷺ appears in the third verse (96): "They swear before you so that you may be pleased with them." The order of Allah Ta` ala is that their wish was not to be granted and he was not to be pleased with them. However, it was also said that, ` even if you were to be pleased with them, it was not going to work for them in any manner, because Allah is not pleased with them. And how could Allah be pleased with them when they are still adamant about their denial and hypocrisy?
