30:28 Ar-Room (The Romans)

هذا مثل ضربه اللّه تعالى لقبح الشرك وتهجينه مثلا من أنفسكم لا يحتاج إلى حل وترحال وإعمال الجمال.{ هَلْ لَكُمْ ممَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ مِنْ شُرَكَاءَ فِيمَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ } أي: هل أحد من عبيدكم وإمائكم الأرقاء يشارككم في رزقكم وترون أنكم وهم فيه على حد سواء.{ تَخَافُونَهُمْ كَخِيفَتِكُمْ أَنْفُسَكُمْ } أي: كالأحرار الشركاء في الحقيقة الذين يخاف من قسمه واختصاص كل شيء بحاله؟ليس الأمر كذلك فإنه ليس أحد مما ملكت أيمانكم شريكا لكم فيما رزقكم اللّه تعالى.هذا، ولستم الذين خلقتموهم ورزقتموهم وهم أيضا مماليك مثلكم، فكيف ترضون أن تجعلوا للّه شريكا من خلقه وتجعلونه بمنزلته، وعديلا له في العبادة وأنتم لا ترضون مساواة مماليككم لكم؟هذا من أعجب الأشياء ومن أدل شيء على [سفه] من اتخذ شريكا مع اللّه وأن ما اتخذه باطل مضمحل ليس مساويا للّه ولا له من العبادة شيء.{ كَذَلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْآيَاتِ } بتوضيحها بأمثلتها { لِقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ } الحقائق ويعرفون، وأما من لا يعقل فلو فُصِّلَت له الآيات وبينت له البينات لم يكن له عقل يبصر به ما تبين ولا لُبٌّ يعقل به ما توضح، فأهل العقول والألباب هم الذين يساق إليهم الكلام ويوجه الخطاب.وإذا علم من هذا المثال أن من اتخذ من دون اللّه شريكا يعبده ويتوكل عليه في أموره، فإنه ليس معه من الحق شيء فما الذي أوجب له الإقدام على أمر باطل توضح له بطلانه وظهر برهانه؟ [لقد] أوجب لهم ذلك اتباع الهوى .

هذا مثل ضربه الله تعالى للمشركين به العابدين معه غيره الجاعلين له شركاء وهم مع ذلك معترفون أن شركاءه من الأصنام والأنداد عبيد له ملك له كما كانوا يقولون: لبيك لا شريك لك إلا شريكا هو لك. تملكه وما ملك. فقال تعالى " ضرب لكم مثلا من أنفسكم" أي تشهدونه وتفهمونه من أنفسكم "هل لكم مما ملكت أيمانكم من شركاء فيما رزقناكم فأنتم فيه سواء" أي يرضى أحدكم أن يكون عبده شريكا له في ماله فهو وهو فيه على السواء "تخافونهم كخيفتكم أنفسكم" أي تخافون أن يقاسموكم الأموال. قال أبو مجلز إن مملوكك لا تخاف إن يقاسمك مالك وليس له ذاك. كذلك الله لا شريك له. والمعنى أن أحدكم يأنف من ذلك فكيف تجعلون لله الأنداد من خلقه وهذا كقوله تعالى "ويجعلون لله ما يكرهون" أي من البنات حيث جعلوا الملائكة الذين هم عباد الرحمن إناثا وجعلوها بنات الله وقد كان أحدهم إذا بشر بالأنثى ظل وجهه مسودا وهو كظيم يتوارى من القوم من سوء ما بشر به أيمسكه على هون أم يدسه في التراب فهم يأنفون من البنات وجعلوا الملائكة بنات الله فنسبوا إليه ما لا يرتضونه لأنفسهم فهذا أغلظ الكفر وهكذا في هذا المقام جعلوا له شركاء من عبيده وخلقه وأحدهم يأبى غاية الإباء ويأنف غاية الأنفة من ذلك أن يكون عبده شريكه في ماله يساويه فيه ولو شاء لقاسمه عليه "تعالى الله عن ذلك علوا كبيرا". قال الطبراني حدثنا محمود بن الفرج الأصبهاني حدثنا إسماعيل بن عمرو البجلي حدثنا حماد بن شعيب عن حبيب بن أبي ثابت عن سعيد بن جبير عن ابن عباس قال: كان يلبي أهل الشرك لبيك اللهم لبيك لا شريك لك إلا شريكا هو لك تملكه وما ملك. فأنزل الله تعالى "هل لكم مما ملكت أيمانكم من شركاء فيما رزقناكم فأنتم فيه سواء تخافونهم كخيفتكم أنفسكم" ولما كان التنبيه بمثل هذا المثل على براءته تعالى ونزاهته عن ذلك بطريق الأولى والأخرى. قال تعالى "كذلك نفصل الآيات لقوم يعقلون".

A Parable of Tawhid

This is the parable Allah makes of the idolators, those who worship others besides Him and attribute partners to Him, while at the same time admitting that these so-called partners -- idols and false gods -- are enslaved to and belong to Him. In their Talbiyah (during Hajj and `Umrah they used to say, "At Your service, You have no partner except the partner that You have, You own Him and whatever he owns."

ضَرَبَ لَكُمْ مَّثَلاً مِّنْ أَنفُسِكُمْ

(He sets forth for you a parable from yourselves) `something which you yourselves can see witness, and understand.'

هَلْ لَّكُمْ مِّن مَّا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـنُكُمْ مِّن شُرَكَآءَ فِى مَا رَزَقْنَـكُمْ فَأَنتُمْ فِيهِ سَوَآءٌ

(Do you have partners among those whom your right hands possess to share as equals in the wealth We have bestowed on you...) `None of you would like to have his servant as a partner in his wealth, each of them having an equal share.'

تَخَافُونَهُمْ كَخِيفَتِكُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ

(whom you fear as you fear each other.) `You fear that they will have a share in your wealth with you.' Abu Mijlaz said, "You do not fear that your servant will have a share in your wealth, because he has no such right; similarly, Allah has no partner." The point is, that since any one of you would abhor such a thing, how can you attribute rivals to Allah from among His creation At-Tabarani recorded that Ibn `Abbas said, "The people of Shirk used to say in their Talbiyah, `At Your service, You have no partner except the partner that You have, You own Him and whatever he owns.' Then Allah revealed the words:

هَلْ لَّكُمْ مِّن مَّا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـنُكُمْ مِّن شُرَكَآءَ فِى مَا رَزَقْنَـكُمْ فَأَنتُمْ فِيهِ سَوَآءٌ تَخَافُونَهُمْ كَخِيفَتِكُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ

(Do you have partners among those whom your right hands possess to share as equals in the wealth We have bestowed on you, whom you fear as you fear each other)" If humans have this characteristic, this parable shows that it is even less befitting for Allah to have a partner.

كَذَلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الاٌّيَـتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ

(Thus do We explain the signs in detail to a people who have sense.) Then Allah points out that when the idolators worship others instead of Him, doing so out of their own folly and ignorance:

بَلِ اتَّبَعَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ

(Nay, but those who do wrong follow...), meaning, the idolators,

أَهْوَاءَهُمْ

(...their own lusts) means, in their worship of false gods without knowledge.

فَمَن يَهْدِى مَنْ أَضَلَّ اللَّهُ

(Then who will guide him whom Allah has sent astray) means, no one can guide them if Allah has decreed that they will be misguided.

وَمَا لَهُم مِّن نَّـصِرِينَ

(And for such there will be no helpers.) means, there is no one who can save them from the power of Allah or grant them a way out, for what He wills, happens and what He does not will, does not happen.

He has struck He has coined for you O idolaters a similitude that is actually drawn from yourselves and it is as follows do you have among those whom your right hands own that is to say among your servants any partners of yourselves who may share in what We have provided for you of property and so on so that you and they are equal therein fearing them as you fear your own folk just as you fear those free men like you? the interrogative is meant as a negation in other words ‘your servants are not partners of yours in what you own so how can you make some of God’s servants partners of His. So We detail the signs so We explain them in such detail for people who understand a people who reflect.

لَهُ الْمَثَلُ الْأَعْلَىٰ (For Him is the highest attribute - 30:27) The word مَثَل mathal is used for any such thing which has resemblance and similarity with something else, but its being exactly like that is not necessary. Therefore, the Qur'an has used the word 'mathal' for Allah Ta’ ala at several places, as in this very verse, and in another but Allah Ta’ ala's Being is completely beyond resemblance. (That is why the word 'mathal' has been translated above as 'attribute', which is also a possible lexical meaning of the word.)
